Main Project

Title: AUTOMATION OF A PROPULSION SYSTEM USING NEXGEN PLC.

Company: COCHIN SHIPYARD LIMITED.

Description: The project involved the automation of a propulsion system which

includes a marine engine, gearbox and a controllable pitch propeller using NEXGEN

PLC. The programming software used was CoDeSys V 2.3 and Ladder Diagram was

used as the programming language. The project aspired to improve and manage the

whole propulsion system and conserve human resource so as to increase the efficiency

and the ease of operation with the system. The visualization of the whole project was

also done.

Minor Project

Title: CAR AUTOMATION.

Description: The project involved the implementation of some automatic systems in

the car, which helps the driver to drive safely without losing his concentration. The

circuit included a car headlight dimmer, a light activated horn and a car parking

sensor. The headlight dimmer take over the duty of low beaming the headlight when

vehicles approach against using relay switching. In Light Activated Horn, when a

beam of light falls on the LDR, the horn system becomes activated. Car Parking

Sensor can be used as an aid for sensing the distance between the rear bumper of the

car and any obstacle behind the car.
