memos for attorneys; investigate new cases, including ordering records
and interviewing witnesses; prepare disclosure and discovery documents;
perform medical lien accounting; prepare settlement and accounting

Prepare and file miscellaneous motions, including default applications

Fellowship (September - December 2011)
Appeared for State in evidentiary hearings for reasonable suspicion and
probable cause, and in bench trials for misdemeanor cases such as DUI,
criminal trespass, assault, criminal damage. Wrote response motions on
behalf of State to challenges to reasonable suspicion, probable cause,
voluntariness of statements, prosecutorial misconduct and in-person
officer interviews. Performed research on novel legal topics, such as
what State must show to prove a prior conviction was constitutionally
obtained. Observed pretrial and mental health court procedures,
evidentiary hearings, and bench and jury trials.
Child and Family Law Clinic, Tucson, AZ: Rule 38(d) Law Student Attorney
(August 2010 - January 2011)
Represented adult domestic violence victims seeking divorce, child
custody, child support and spousal maintenance. Represented child clients
in CPS custody and dependency situations during Juvenile Court hearings
and at Child and Family Team Meetings. Worked with social work students,
parents, grandparents and other family members before and during meetings
to resolve problems together.
