Responsibilities:

Routine:

> Responsible for changing the bed sheets for every patient bed (bed

making).

> Responsible for giving the prescribed medicines to patients in time.

> Responsible for keeping all emergency medicines & dressing trolley

with required medicines.

> Responsible for sterile Trays, Instruments, B.P. apparatus,

Thermometers, I.V Sets etc., made available when it is required.

> Responsible for assisting, coordinating with patients/ attenders for

arranging blood/ and other outsourced investigations like MRI,CT etc

> Responsible & accountable for informing to front office for the

requirement of blood/ outsourced investigations in advance.

> Responsible for collecting, filling all investigations reports in the

respective file of the patient.

Morning Staff Routine:

> Keep up all inventories (instruments, drugs, emergency drugs).

> Coordinating in handling and taking over from night duty staff (to

check doctors' advice, investigations, intake and output charts,

medicines given).

> Keep the nurse station clean & tidy.

> Ensure all patients should be seen by the consultant doctor.

> Checking and recording Vital signs.

> Administrating medicines as per doctor's advice.

> Make sure that all patients receive breakfast, lunch and eat in time.

> Giving prescriptions to the patients if medicines are not available

with them or get from pharmacy in case of insurance patients.

> Ensure that no visitors stay in the unit.

> Make sure that bed side locker & nurses' station must be clean always.

> Updating activity record daily.

> Accountable to replace the medicines properly

> Following biomedical waste management system.

> Keep the things in order at nurse station to enable co-staff to locate

immediately to avoid delay during emergencies.

> Writing the name of in-patient, room no., treating Doctors name in

display board right behind Nurse Station on daily basis

Patient Admission:

> Ensure that the allotted room, bed is ready for the patient.

> Check for cleanliness, hot water availability, phone connection,

oxygen and suction apparatus functioning, electricity supply, nurses

call bell is working or not etc., if not contact concerned department

for rectification of fault.

> Ensure that patient's name, I.P. number are written correctly and

legibly on the file and on each page.

> Welcoming the patient to the ward accompany him/her to the bed and

make him comfortable on the bed.

> Checking and recording the vital signs and inform the concerned doctor

about the admission as early as possible.

> Entering in the admission register book if any new patient admitted.

> Checking the file and attach the activity chart. All forms must have

patients name and IP number.

> Carrying out the orders / instructions given by the doctor.

> Responsible for Documentation: To check and record vital signs,

maintain nurse's notes with date, time and signature regularly.
