Synopsis
I have diverse experience with the commissioning and the operation of grass root
refinery and LNG projects in both Saudi Arabia and the State of Qatar.

S hift Supervisor.
I am presently participating in all aspects of operating activities within the
companies “Terminal Operations” assigned to the 12,000 tonnes per day Common
Sulphur Plant. This entails receiving molten sulphur from end users, granulating,
s torage (Stacking and Reclaiming) and shipping via conveyors to ship loaders.
L oading Supervisor (Loading Master)
On a shift rotation basis, I was responsible for product storage and loading of L NG,
Condensate and Bulk Sulphur Prills (older facility). Additionally, t he loading of
C ryogenic L.P.G. and G.T.L. products on behalf of the local producers.
T he position included the preparation of all pre-loading documentation for
p resentation to vessels upon arrival. Berthing and positioning vessels, liaison with
t he port pilots via m arine V.H.F.
Supervising all aspects of loading operations carried out for Qatargas and on behalf
of other local companies. On completion of loading, I had the responsibility of
w itnessing any automatic calculations and where necessary carry out manual
calculations using ASTM tables.
Being an authorised signatory for the company, I also verified and acknowledged
official documentation presented to the vessels.
I spent two years on a special assignment with Plant Operations to review and
rewrite manuals and procedures. Within this time I worked closely with the
companies Technical Writers
I have carried out numerous Shipping "Compatibility Inspections” on perspective
L NG vessels visiting Qatargas both i n Japan and Qatar.
Fi re T raining Co-ordinator.
I was responsible for preparing and conducting fire t raining p rograms for all
company employees in the subject of fi re protection, emergency and fi re fighting
p ractices. Performing as the third in command within the sections organisational
s tructure, of which included responding to incidents and emergencies. In the
absence of the Fire master’s, I assumed their duties in a capacity and authority
i nherent to the positions. Being a grassroots plant I was involved in the
commissioning and acceptance of the entire plant and port fi re f ighting systems,
both fixed and portable.

P roduction and Scheduling Supervisor.
T he scope of work entailed: Monitoring of process feed and r undowns. Issuing
Daily Production Targets with projected unit r ates received from the Economic and
P lanning.
Formulating blends for the production of leaded and unleaded gasoline's and full
r ange diesel oils with the use of a modified Bonner & Moore LP model and spread
sheets. Monitored quality control for entire blending and certification process
Coordinated w ith the Oil Port for the continuing quality control and all aspects of
loading and documentation of the visiting vessels with a full range of petroleum
p roducts including bulk sulphur loading via a conveyor loading system, all products
p roduced by SAMREF (Averaged 40 ships per month).
Author of the companies production and quality control procedures with reference to
I SO 9000
I was a member of the refinery's "Emergency Response Team" as a Team Leader of
ten fire-fighters. This post required the team to be on call one week in every four.
T raining was given in Texas A&M University and the Fire Service College in the
U nited Kingdom.
I reported to the Refinery Operations Manager.
Oil Movements Supervisor.
I nitially involved with the acceptance and commissioning of this 250,000 barrel/day
refinery and port facility. On completion of start-up, I continued working within the
O il Movements Dept. During this period, I gained experience in the supervision of
U K, Asian expatriates and the t raining of Saudi Arabian Nationals.
I acted for the Marine Superintendent and Area Senior Day Supervisor in their
absence with the authority inherent to those positions.
Related equipment worked on includes: Foxboro supervisory Computer, Foxboro
M icroblendtrol, Hewlett Packard loading computer, Daniel's metering systems,
E nraf gauging system and P.C's.

A fter a period of t raining, I joined a tank farm team responsible for the feeding and
r eceiving major process uni ts including CDU, H dyro-cracker, Reformer, Vacuum
U nit and CHD with their associated units
W ith the use of in-line blending facilities, I was involved in the b lending of
Gasoline's, Gas Oils and Fuel Oils
E xporting finished products across 6 berths. I a lso gained experience ammonia and
L PG handling, importing f rom vessels and exporting by road cars.
Equipment used: Foxboro in-line blenders and Enraf gauging systems.
I reported to a Shift Supervisor.
