Compensation and Benefits Manager
The Columbus Metropolitan Library is a public resource open to all. It
consists of a Main Library and 21 branches. There are over 750 associates
employed with the Library. I report directly to the Director of Human
Resources.
. Manage administration of all benefit programs including health,
dental, vision, life, disability, and long-term care. Provide input
for analysis of employee benefit plans and fund management.
. Manage leave of absence administration, claim review and analysis for
FMLA, workers compensation, coordination of reasonable accommodations
and employee return to work restrictions.
. Manage compensation program including development of job
descriptions/job analysis processes and completion of salary surveys.
. Manage the marketing of vendors including insurance brokers, workers
compensation, benefit plans and insurance carriers. Develop annual
benefits proposal and lead open enrollment and benefits
implementation.
. Manage and lead wellness and employee recognition programs.
. Supervise day to day HRIS data administration and processing of
employee data changes.

Benefits Administrator
Avizent offers third party administration services for workers'
compensation and risk management solutions. There are over 700 associates
employed with Avizent across the country. I reported directly to the
Director of Human Resources.
. Manage and communicate benefit enrollment for all benefit plans
(medical, dental, vision, FSA, life, STD, LTD, 401k) on a monthly
basis for new hires and a yearly basis for all associates during open
enrollment.
. Facilitate disability, personal, military, medical and family leaves
of absences in accordance with federal, state and corporate
requirements for all 60 Avizent offices.
. Manage audits for Health and Welfare and 401k plans and oversee
correct and timely filing of federal documents each year.
. Audit and pay vendor bills accurately and efficiently on a monthly
basis for all benefit plans.
. Act as first contact and issue resolution for internal workers'
compensation claims and as liaison for injured worker and assigned
adjuster.
. Coordinate with third party administrator to ensure timely
distribution of COBRA paperwork for newly terminated associates and
manage ARRA subsidy information and updates.
. Maintain unemployment correspondence for all states, provide requested
information, and attend hearings (by phone) when necessary while
working with third party administrator.
. Team with our benefits broker to produce and distribute annual Total
Compensation Statements for all associates.
ViaQuest, Inc., Dublin, OH - February 2005 - August 2007
Human Resources Coordinator
ViaQuest provides services for people with developmental disabilities,
behavioral challenges, mental health disorders and in-home care needs in
Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Arizona. At time of employment there
were over 2000 associates employed at ViaQuest. I reported to the Human
Resources Manager.
. Coordinate disability, personal, medical and family leaves of absences
in accordance with federal, state and corporate requirements for 22
facilities managed by ViaQuest for over 2000 employees.
o Manage follow-up activities for closure of leaves.
. Help develop, generate and distribute on a bi-weekly, monthly and
annual basis a variety of management reports including statistical
summaries and analysis of employee data files.
o Reports include information regarding average age, average
length of service, headcount, turnover, unemployment, workers'
compensation, wages and benefit enrollment.
. File workers' compensation and unemployment claims for ViaQuest
associates with their respective third party administrators as well as
research and manage as necessary.
. Assist all associates with benefit questions and/or concerns ranging
from enrollment questions, claim payments, issue resolution and
trouble shooting.
