to Present Serve as the chief medical copywriter for The Illinois Pain
Institute and Therapeutic Health Associates and
contribute articles to several University of Chicago
Medical Center publications. Write and edit health,
fitness, nutrition, home d cor and design and beauty
articles for several high-profile, national Web sites
and U.S. newspapers. Write news, features and blog
articles for other sites that wish to maximize their
exposure and standing on search engines, mostly
through blogs, articles and social media. Edit
scripts from Martha Stewart Living, including those
featured on Martha Stewart and Emeril Lagasse TV
programs.

to March 2011 Created strategic referral partnerships with the
chiropractors of Physicians Sports and other medical
practices, promoted corporate health and wellness
programs, chaired a marketing subgroup with the
Westmont Chamber of Commerce, organized and executed
all public appearances and promotional events on
behalf of the practice and created all marketing and
media materials for our physicians, including
physician folders, brochures, trifolds, bifolds,
postcards, advertisements and press releases. Key
accomplishment: the creation of a new Web site.

Brook Medical Management, Inc.
to October 2009 Wrote and designed all marketing collateral (brochures, a
quarterly newsletter, sell sheets, postcards,
advertisements, etc.) for three surgical centers and
an imaging center. Also managed all internal
communications (letters, directories, procedure
manuals, etc.) among several hundred physicians. In
2009, several key initiatives included creating
and/or redesigning Web sites, recruiting new surgeons
and creating strategic marketing alliances.

to July 2008 Served as the marketing and public relations
representative for many west suburban and Chicago
area businesses. Extensive market research studies
led to highly customized marketing communication
plans that integrated marketing, public relations and
media relations initiatives, including writing and
designing brochures, newsletters, sell sheets,
postcards, advertisements, press releases, radio and
TV ads and Web sites and managing trade shows,
exhibits, special events, promotions, speaking
engagements and strategic business alliances.

to July 2008 Researched, planned, wrote and edited the editorial
content for about 50 special supplements a year and
coordinated and edited about 50 other advertiser-
driven sections - managing a stable of freelance
writers and working in conjunction with three graphic
designers. Also, with the company's senior
advertising executives, strategized with major
advertisers - such as Macy's, the American Cancer
Society and organizers of the Chicago Auto Show - to
create profitable sections.

to May 2003 Created all internal and external marketing and promotional
materials for University College, including
brochures, tri-folds, sell sheets, newsletters,
direct mail pieces, postcards, print and radio ads,
catalogs, handbooks and press releases. Also served
as the university president's lead consultant on a
public relations crisis team after the school was
sued for $6 million for defamation after an incident
linked to 9/11.
9/97 to 8/00 Copy Editor, Chicago Sun-Times
Edited news, features and business stories, wrote
captions and headlines, proofread pages and slotted
pages on the night news desk while meeting at least
four - and sometimes as many as eight - nightly
deadlines. Also chosen as a contributing editor for
20th Century Chicago: 100 Years, 100 Voices, a book
published by the parent company of the Chicago Sun-
Times.
8/94 to 9/97 Founder, Write Way Communications
Contributed hundreds of articles to regional and
national newspapers and magazines, edited dozens of
books for west suburban publishers - including one
that also involved ghost-writing for a former Miss
America - and edited articles, research reports and
CD-ROMs for NCREL, a division of the U.S. Department
of Education.

Worked as a beat reporter in Buffalo Grove and
Barrington then as an award-winning general
assignment reporter on the metro staff before being
promoted to management as an assistant city editor,
first managing a staff of six reporters and then
