OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Honors, Awards and Special Accomplishments
Accomplishments: I was a Democratic special election candidate for the
Wisconsin State Assembly. I have been encouraged to run most election
years since. I have served successfully in a number of positions. The
constitution that I wrote for the Democratic Party of Rock County in
1985 is a model for and has been adopted by other counties, districts
and other Democratic organizations. I was the founder and first
president of the Washington College environmental organization. It is
one of the largest and most active organizations on the Washington
College campus. I graduated from Milton College with a 4.0 in my major
and a 3.8 over all grade point average. I have a 3.7 graduate grade
point average. I consider these grade point averages as major
accomplishments considering the fact that I'm visually impaired and
that I barely graduated from high school.
Honors: Milton College Dean's List; the only transfer student in the
history of the college to do so within one semester of transferring. I
also tied for second place in my senior year at Milton College for
Student of the Year. I tied with Dave Krieg, Milton College's
All-American quarterback who went on to be an NFL quarterback. Scott
Michum, the Student Senate President came in first. The award is for
dedication and service to the college and the students. In addition, I
was honored by the Fox Valley Tech. College Student Government with the
Student Senate Attendance and Involvement Award.
Publications: Numerous published articles, editorials, columns,
letters-to-the-editor, public interest lobbying, and political position
