Main Project:
Title: A new 84-pulse vsc configuration using multi-level dc voltage
reinjection for special applications.
Duration: 20-1-2012 to 18-2-2012.
Institution/company of project done: WINE YARD Technologies.
Description of Project: This project analyzes the structure of an 84-pulse
voltage source converter (VSC), assembled by combining one twelve-pulse
VSC, in conjunction with an asymmetric single phase seven-level converter
plus an injection transformer. With this arrangement, the VSC output's
total harmonic distortion in voltages is reduced, allowing it to be used in
especial applications or as the basement of flexible A.C. transmission
systems (FACTS) devices. The proposed strategy allows savings number of
employed switches. Simulations and experimental results are provided to
show the proposal appropriateness.
Main Project:
Title: Minimization of eddy current losses in distribution transformer by
using foil winding
Duration: 4-6-2011 to 24-6-2011.
Institution/company of project done: SIVARAM ELECTRICAL INDUSTRY.
Description of Project:
Modern civilization depends heavily on the consumption of electrical energy
for industrial, commercial, agricultural, domestic and social purposes.
Electrical power is generated in large thermal, hydro, nuclear power
stations. The modern electrical power system is in the form of a large
interconnected 3 phase AC network. The main advantage of AC over DC is
that, the AC can be easily transferable from low voltage to high or high
voltage to low. Alternating voltages can be raised or lowered as per
requirement in the different stages of electrical network as generation,
transmission, distribution and utilization. This is possible with a static
device called Transformer.
The transformer which is used for distribution is nothing but the
Distribution transformer. The development of designing of distribution
transformer with low losses has been made successful, but the size of the
transformer is always an issue. By introducing Foil winding in place of
rectangular strip coils and co-regulated tank made the transformer compact
without affecting its performance.
Our project is on "Minimization of eddy current loss in distribution
transformer by using Foil winding". The technical advantages of Foil wound
transformers are compact size and reduced weight, increase thermal
stability, higher short term over load capacity, higher surge with standing
capacity, enhanced ability to with stand short circuit currents, greater
insulation reliability.
The commercial advantages of Foil wound transformers are reduced material
cost, competitive price, higher productivity of transformers handling
larger currents, savings on freight and packaging. The main aim of this
project is to design and develop the Foil wound transfer with compact in
size without affecting its overall performance.
