EXPERIENCE

IBM Oct 2011 - present

Worked on the PowerVC RAS team. Delivered the initial offering of RAS support for PowerVC 1.0.0. This included improvements to OSEE's logging mechanism, such as a flight recorder, internal caching, and logging controlling service. All work was done in Python and JSON on a pRHEL6.3. Source control was done using Rational. The development process incorporated the Agile methodology.

Assigned as Scrum Master for the Service and Support Manager Team as part of the Agile methodology we supported. Additional duties included managing the scrums and resolving the problems brought into the scrum meetings. In addition, I was in charge of organizing the Stories and Tasks for the team. Code was developed in Java using Eclipse on a Windows system for distribution on various Linux platforms. Source control was done using Rational.

Kinack Consulting, Inc. Jan 1999 - Oct 2011

Worked on the Service and Support Manager team developing for Director 6.3. Duties include adding new functionality for for new hardware (Accipiter, SDMC, etc), writing testingcases, and general defect support.

Wrote cli to interface with Director 6.2. The commands provided functionality

of Service and Support Manager. This included the manipulation of support files and service problems associated with the machines and/or problem reports.

Worked on Electronic Service Agent Standalone for AIX. Assisted in customer support for exisiting customers, and developing new features for future releases.

Worked on Workload Partitions for AIX (WPARs). Primary responsibility was to help create a web based interface using Rational Software Architect for WebSphwere Software. Our team embraced the Agile development process which requires short term iterations, customer feedback and SCRUM techniques.

Worked on WebSM for AIX. Responsibilities including working on applet mode and a native pc client. This involved writing html, cgi, and java scripts.

Secondary roles were maintaining smit and older versions of websm.

CDI Corporation Aug 1997 - Dec 1998

Worked on a Web based System Management tool, WebSM97, for IBM. This

includes assisting in the client-server framework and gui applications.

The entire project was written in Java.

Worked on the second generation framework for WebSM called WebSM2000.

Worked on the security login screen, applet conversions for Java plugins, and the NT Install Shield packaging for the client package, among other general defects.

Worked on service defects for smit, vsm, and websm. This includes working with IBM India's service team. Wrote a tool to help facilitate the statistics gathering of pmr data for IBM Austin.

Haystack Labs Inc Dec 1996 - Dec 1997

Designed and implementing a client/server application using Java. Tasks include converting my old design to use new Java technology like Remote Method Invocation, Native Language implementation, and Internationalization of the messages.

Improved the installation process of our product by using the native install programs for each platform, ie InstallShield for NT, installp for AIX, swpkg for HPUX, and pkgadd for Solaris.

Resolved various bugs in the products which is written in Visual C++.

IBM Dec 1989 - Dec 1996

Application programmer for AIX system management. Team lead for the

SMIT (System Management Interface Tool) project which was written in C.

This is a front-end interface to the underlying commands in AIX. We developed

ASCII smit, motif smit, and distributed smit.

Being a team lead included management of 5 people, writing specs, and creating

packaging files, as well as the normal duties of a programmer.

Also support the VSM (Visual System Management) products which was written in C++. These are applications similar to SMIT but provide drag and drop capabilities.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Working knowledge of WebSphere, Eclipse, Java, Python, Ant, Ajax, C++, C. Also faimilar with JavaScript, JSON, XML, JSP, HTML, and Motif. Most of my experience is on AIX and Linux, but have worked on Solaris, HP, NT, DOS and Windows.
