To Whom It May Concern:
I would like to meet with you to discuss the possibilities of my future in the community health
profession. I am interested in the position because I have had experience with different areas in
health education. I also want to share the experience working with your agency.
I am a recent graduate of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. My major was in
Community Health Education and I received my Bachelor’s Degree on May 5, 2012. I am also a
past member of Eta Sigma Gamma (Health Honor Society). In my undergraduate program, I
learned how to plan, implement, and evaluate a program in Madison County Health Department
with T.M.N.T. (Teenage Mother Nutrition Training) in Wood River, IL. I have completed service
hours and my Internship with Bethany Place which is and HIV/ AIDS Organization in Belleville,
IL. While working with them, I also helped out with different projects, making safe sex kits,
creating a condom poster board, involved myself with community outreach in low-income
neighborhoods distributing condoms and information to residents, viewing HIV tests and
participated at health fairs by sharing information and communicating with other people. I
helped implement groups with the residents, administrative work, and assisted my supervisor
with the NEOME Program, which distributes clean needles to individuals who inject drugs and
keep them from contracting HIV/AIDS. I also took initiative to organize presentations and
present at Vatterott College, TASC, Freeburg High School, and Southern Illinois University
Edwardsville to help my public speaking skills. I recently received my certification for
Substitute Teaching and Paraprofessional in order to work with children and youth.
