A. Definition

A staff nurse is responsible for rendering nursing care to

. Interviews and interacts with patients upon admission

. Analyzes laboratory and diagrams the findings to come up

with nursing impression

2. Make rounds :

. Make rounds with attending physician or residents house

stay with regards to clarification of patients care

. Make rounds as frequent as necessary for the purpose of

observing, assessing and meeting patients needs

. Visit all patients immediately after return to unit

. Supervise the care given by midwives and any team

members

. Plans, directs and assist in the bedside nursing care

given to the patients

. Check charting

. Assist new staff in the performance of duties and

responsibilities

. Attend regular unit meeting and those called for

and physical comforts such as:

. Rendering sponges bath and give skin care

. Assisting patients to do oral care

. Keeping wound dressings clean and dry

. Positioning patients properly conductive to patients

patients condition

. Makes notes and verbal report to the supervisor only
