chemical cost. The process change also produced a

higher solids product that saved the customer 9% in

shipping cost.

Nord Kaolin Company (Purchased by Dry Branch Kaolin)

Responsible for designing and supervising experiments to

evaluate filler and coating pigments. Worked closely with

sales and production plant in product evaluation,

development, and improvement. Responsible for setting key

specifications for cationic and anionic pigments. Worked

closely with sales at plant trials. Supervised a group of

six in the Paper Applications Laboratory. Previous position

was Paper Filler Applications Manager. Dry Branch Kaolin

purchased Nord Kaolin in 1997.

11. Evaluated TiO2 replacement pigments in customer's wet

end and coating formulations, and prepared the sales

presentations. These sales presentations resulted

annual sales of $10,000,000.

12. Co-inventor of two patented cationic pigment processes.

These processes led to the development of three

innovative kaolin products for the paper industry.

13. Developed or co-developed four value-added kaolin

products for the paper filler and coating applications.

Responsible for designing and supervising experiments to

evaluate filler pigments. Worked closely with technical

services, marketing, sales, and production plants in product

evaluation, development, and improvement. Supervised a group

of three laboratory technicians.

14. An active member of a team that developed and introduced

low brightness calcined kaolin as filler for groundwood

containing papers.

15. Developed a new proprietary test to evaluate calcined

kaolin.

16. Authored or co-authored three papers that were presented

at TAPPI or CPPA. These papers enhanced Engelhard's

Established a wet end laboratory for the evaluation of filler

pigments. Responsible for designing and conducting

experiments to evaluate filler pigments. Engelhard purchased

Freeport Kaolin in 1985.

19. Changed the wet end chemistry of uncoated papermachines

cleaner operating conditions led to improved runnability

on the papermachines producing offset and envelope
