Profile of Professional Experience

• Currently working as the Lead Process Engineer for Dodsal Engg &

Construction Co: (from June’12 onwards) in their Abudhabi Office for the

HMT Gas Pipelines project for GASCO, Abudhabi. All the process design

related activities, including the approval of all Philosophy documents for

this project is coming to an end now.

• Worked as Lead Process Engineer in Azerbaijan Methanol Company from

June’2012 to March’12 for their 1800 TPD Methanol Project which is

presently under Commissioning . My responsibility here involved Review

and approval of all process documents supplied by the Engineering

Contractor,which involved checking of the Heat & Mass balances, P&IDs,

Equipment and Instrument specifications of the plant, advising the

Engineering contractor on the preparation of process documents and

drawings, Schedule Control etc

• Worked as the Lead Process Engineer in Poyry Energy Ltd,Abudhabi for

their project in Takreer Refinery at Ruwais for the updation of the P&IDs of

the Hydroskimmer unit and its conversion into SPPIDs for a period of 7

months till April‘2010.

• Worked as Principal Process Engineer for Dodsal Engg and Construction

(P)Ltd, Dubai, for the Qarn Alam Steam Injection Project of PDO (EPC

job) in the Project office of Dodsal at Ruwi, Muscat till June‘09. Mott

Mcdonald was the Engg sub Contractor for the project

• Worked as Principal Process Engineer for Dodsal Engg and Construction

(P)Ltd, Dubai, (EPC job) for the NGL pipeline replacement project of

GASCO,Abudhabi.

Consultancy Division (FEDO) of FACT – 14 Years.

• Technical Services and Project Management in the Petrochemical Division

of FACT – 3 Years.

• Process Design / Commissioning experience of Chemical Plants in the

10. Details of Experience in their chronological order

• June’2012 onwards: Presently working in Dodsal Engineering and

Construction Company as the Lead Process Engineer for the execution of

HMT Pipelines Project for GASCO, from June’12 onwards.

• June’2010 to Mar’2012: I have been working as the Lead Process

Engineer for the execution of a 1800 TPD Grassroot Methanol Project for

Azerbaijan Methanol Company in Karadagh,Baku from June’10 to

March’12. I had reviewed the Material & Energy Balance / steam balances,

P&IDs, Equipment & Instrument Specs, DCS Graphics, Specs for Control

Valves, Relief Valves etc and was involved in various Design review

meetings / discussions with vendors and providing clarifications to the site

construction.

• Oct’2009 to April’2010: Functioned as the Lead Process Engineer for the

updation and conversion to SPPIDs of the P&IDs of the Hydroskimmer

Unit of Takreer Refinery in Ruwais (A part of Abudhabi Emirate)

• Dec’08 to June‘09: Functioned as the Principal Process Engineer in

Dodsal Engg and Construction (p) Ltd, Dubai for the Qarn Alam Steam

Injection Project of PDO,Oman which is presently under operation. Dodsal

was the EPC contractor for the job, with Mott Macdonald as the Engg

Subcontractor based on the FEED documents by Worley Parsons. The

detailed engg activities for the project was done in the Project office at

Ruwi, Muscat. Total Project was divided into two EPC contracts viz On-plot

and Off - plot with On-plot job executed by Dodsal and Off-plot job by M/s

Galfar. Dodsal part of the Project was divided into the following major

process packages (with total number of 96 P&IDs) with total process

integration by Mott Mcdonald.

Water treatment package was supplied by M/s Veolia, France which

involves the treatment of the water (from wells) for the steam production

using multimedia filtration, cartridge filtration and RO filtration along with

facility for the dosing of appropriate chemicals.

HRSG package for the 80% steam production was supplied by M/s Nooter

Erickson,UK

Separation of the BS&W from oil wells into oil, water and gas using

FWKO/satellite /test separators equipped with the inlet cyclone devices.

4 stage Produced Gas Compressor package ordered on MAN Turbo / CPS,with provision for inter stage separation and cooling . The compressed

gas will be used for Oil well injection, as fuel in HRSG package and partly

supplying to the external consumers.

Produced water treatment and disposal facility involving Corrugated Plate

Interceptors and Induced gas floatation vessels was supplied by M/s

Process Group International, Dubai.

Vapor Recovery Unit was supplied by M/s NASH, Italy.

Storage and pumping of Produced water and RO waste water to Deep

Wells and Shallow Wells.

Storage and pumping of wet oil to wet oil dehydration section

The main job content in this project was the checking and correction of

PFDs and P&IDs, checking and optimization of the eqpt / piping sizes wherever it

was found inadequate in the design of Mott as well as coordination with PDO and

external agencies for Design, Process Control, Hazop and IPF (Instrument

Protective Function) reviews.

The job involved also the finalization of the Boiler dosing chemicals (in co-

ordination with the Chemical Suppliers) which was absent in the FEED

document.

• Feb ’08 to Nov’08 : Functioned as the Principal Process Engineer in Dodsal

Engg and Construction (p) Ltd, Dubai for the NGL pipeline replacement

project of GASCO, Abudhabi. Dodsal was the EPC contractor for the job, with

Mott Macdonald as the Engg Subcontractor. The job involved was checking

and verification of all process documents before it is forwarded to the

PMC/GASCO for approval and co-ordination between GASCO,PMC, Mott

and external agencies. The Documents/reports thus generated and checked

were,

• May 2005 to Jan 08:

Functioned as the Chief Superintendent of Production in

Udyogamandal Division of FACT (One of the Fertilizer Giants in India)

in charge of Production of SO 2/Sulphuric Acid/Oleum Plants,

Ammonium Phosphate Plants, Ammonium Sulphate Plant, 900 TPD

Ammonia Plant, 6MW captive Power Plant, Pollution Control, Off sites,

Raw Material Sections and also in charge of the Movement of

Products.

• April 2002 to April 2005

Functioned as Deputy Chief Engineer in the Technical Services

Department of FACT’s Petrochemical Division manufacturing

Caprolactam (which is a raw material for the manufacture of Nylon-6).

Major jobs done during the above period are:

(i) Execution of a new Thermal Oil Furnace and associated

piping/instrumentation facilities for the Anone (Cyclohexanone)

Plant of FACT Petrochemical Division.

(ii) Trouble shooting and modifications/project management of the

Double walled Ammonia Storage Tank of capacity 5000 MT.

(iii) Trouble shooting and modification of a Caustic mixer in the

rearrangement section of the Lactam plant.

• June 1994 to March 2002

Functioned as Planning Manager/Deputy Chief Engineer in the Project

planning Department of FACT Engineering Design Organisation

(FEDO). Major Jobs done during this period were:

(i) Planning / Scheduling / Monitoring / Progress Measurement /

Cost Control functions of 900 TPD ammonia Project for FACT,

using the software ‘Primavera’ version 3.1.

(ii) Planning / Scheduling / Monitoring / Progress Measurement /

Cost Control functions of a Urea Revamp Project for M/s.

National Fertilisers Ltd., Nangal in Punjab, using the software

‘MS Project’.

(iii) Planning / Scheduling / Monitoring / Progress Measurement and

Cost Control functions of Petrolium Products Storage installation

at Mangalore for M/s Bharath Petroleum Corporation, using the

software ‘ MS Project’.

(iv) Planning / Scheduling / Monitoring / Progress Measurement and

Cost Control functions for the replacement of the Product

Conveyor System of FACT’s Ambalamedu Unit using ‘MS

Project’.

• August 1992 to June 1994

Functioned as Design Manager in the Process Design Department of

FEDO. Major jobs handled during this period were:

(i) Commissioning of a 360 TPD Sulphuric Acid plant for Rashtriya

Chemicals and Fertilisers Ltd., Mumbai, after its front end

renovation. The highlight of this job had been the trouble

shooting and rectification of the design defect of a conventional

sulphur burner.

(ii) Development of a Basic Engineering package for 15 TPD

Sodium Bicarbonate Plant and its execution for M/s. Tuticorin

Alkali Chemicals Ltd., Tuticorin. The job involved the preparation

of Material and Energy Balances, P& I Diagrams, Conceptual

Plant layouts, Equipment specifications, Instrument

specifications, Interlock logic diagrams, Line sizing and Line

schedules, Design Calculations for Pumps, Agitators, Relief

valves, thickener, Product bins, etc.

The above plant had been successfully commissioned with the

commencement of commercial production in January 1996.

• December 1987 to August 1992

Functioned as Senior Planning Engineer in FEDO. Major jobs handled

during this period were:

(i) Project Planning / Scheduling / Monitoring / Progress

Measurement / Functions including Site Construction, planning

for a 300 TPD Methanol Project for M/s. Gujarath Narmada

Valley Fertiliser Company (GNFC), Bharuch using the software

‘PRISM’

The above Project had been successfully commissioned in

December 1990 with the commencement of commercial

production of Methanol.

(ii) Project co-ordination for about 50 process improvement jobs in

the Caprolactam Plant of FACT, Kochi.

• September 1984 to November 1987

Functioned as the Shift-in-charge of the Phosphoric Acid and DAP

Plants of FACT’s Udyogamandal Division.

• April 1981 to August 1984

Functioned as Design Engineer in the Process Design Department of

FEDO. Major Jobs handled during this period were:

(i) Process Design of Phosphate Slurry Handling System for

Hindustan Zinc Ltd., Udaipur in Collaboration with M/s. JACOB’s

Engineering, USA. The job involved, Checking of P & I

Diagrams, Preparation of Eqpt/Instrument specifications and

Slurry Pressure Drop calculations (for non-newtonian

Thixotrophic fluids).

(ii) Development and Preparation of the P & I Diagrams, Line sizing

./ Line schedules and Equipment specifications for the

Phosphoric Acid Storage and Handling facilities at Cochin Port

and FACT’s Ambalamedu Unit in Kochi, Kerala.

(iii) Commissioning of a 360 TPD Sulphuric Acid plant for

Travancore Titanium Products Ltd., Thiruvananthapuram,

Kerala.

(iv) Commissioning of a 20 TPD Nitric Acid Plant and a 20 TPD

Sulphuric Acid Plant for Ordinance Factory, Itarsi, Madhya

Pradesh.

• Joined FACT, Kochi as a Management Trainee on 01/10/1980.

General

(i) Worked as a Part Time Lecturer in Mathematics for AMIE students for one year,

during the beginning of my career in FACT, Kochi.

ii) Worked as a Part Time Lecturer in Unit Operations of Chemical Engineering for

one year in FACT Training School during early nineties.

(iii) Self had developed a project progress related formula for the disbursement of

incentive to project personnel in FEDO, Kochi.
