PROJECT: “Detection of Surface and Dimensional Defects in Flat Metal Surface using Digital Image Processing Techniques for Industrial requirements”.

DESCRIPTION:

The inspection of surface texture is an important part of many industrial quality control applications. The detection of features and classification based on it in a digital image is the key requirement in quality control systems in production and process. An inspection system to replace human inspectors should be capable of detecting flaws such as scratches, stains, (textural defects) and dents, cracks, blow holes (structural defects) occurring in various shapes and size. Edges of the image will be extracted from gray level image with the help of canny edge detector algorithm.

PAPER PRESENTATIONS:

1. IMAGE SEGEMENTATION AND PATTERN MATCHING USING FPGA IMPLEMENTATION OF REAL TIME OBJECT TRACKING.

DESCRIPTION:

This paper deals with real time object tracking in a video picture. Initially it was implemented using software, since it had too much calculation and also it was tedious to carry on with that, so we move to Hardware (FPGA). With image segmentation, we can detect all objects in the images no matter whether they are moving or not. Using image segmentation results of successive frames, we exploit pattern matching in a simple object feature space for tracking of objects. The proposed algorithm can be applied to multiple moving and still objects even in the case of a moving camera. The FPGA/ASIC implementation architecture is verified to enable real-time tracking of up to 220 objects, when realized with modern FPGA hardware.
