Project I:

Project Name : Store Sales Information System (SSIS).

Client : Kings Store, UK.

My Role : Software Trainee

Duration : August 2010 to August 2011.

Environment : SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, SQL Server, MDX.

Description:

Kings Store, UK Supermarket chain headquartered in London has more than 100 stores in UK. King Store

is more than just popular and beloved consumer brands, products include food & grocery, general merchandise

and consumer electronics.

Data was extracted from SQL Server and Flat Files. Cleaned, Transformed & Loaded in a separated data

base using SSIS, The Enterprise Data Warehouse was built to implement a centralized the database that

collects and organizes and stores data from different operational systems, integrate and historical data for the

purpose of end user reporting. The various business patterns can be analyzed using the different business

dimensions.

Responsibilities:

• Understand data requirements from the business analyze source data and derive required datasets.

• Designed and developed the ETL process (SSIS packages) to make the data available from various

relational databases, excel, flat files etc., for analysis and reporting purposes.

• Utilized multiple transformations provided by SSIS such as Data Conversion, Conditional Split, Bulk

Insert, Merge and Union-all.

• Created various types of reports like Tables, Matrix, List and many more.

• Created OLAP Cubes using SQL Server Analysis Services 2008.

Project Name : LoBill Sales Analyzer (LSA).

Client : LoBill Foods, Philippines.

My Role : BI Developer.

Description:

The system has a database which stores information about sales, profits and contacts of

customers. Using this existing database, the system should analyze the sales and profit and generates

reports for Sales and Profits in month wise and year wise. The resulting model gives us an idea about

growth in profit, prediction about increase in sales. The data Warehouse was further used to do Market

Based analysis. It plays a major role in enabling various stores to view the data at a lowest level and help

them to make decisions to bring more revenue to company with new policies.

Responsibilities:

• Collect business requirements and produce reports accordingly.

• Used varied types of reports in the process of producing business reports.

• Designed and developed ETL process to import data from various sources like Flat-File, Excel and also

Relational Databases.

• Developed different types of reports according to the requirements.

• Generated Adhoc reports using Report Builder.

• Created OLAP Cubes and Dimensions.

• Involved in writing MDX queries against Cubes constructed in Analysis Services.

• Automated the calculations and partitions in Cube for analysis purposes basing on business

requirements.
