Objective
To find a position with a top notch provider of hydro-excavation or sewer services in Southern Ontario, to service markets and continue the strong relationships with clients from Windsor to Guelph developed over the past nine years. QUALIFICATIONS
• Seven years of management experience in a specialized services business within the construction, municipal and transportation industries and a further 5 years experience with industrial vacuum and water blasting trucks.
• Responsible for human resource, quality assurance, front line sales, site/task orientation, payroll, per job cost analysis, and profit-loss performance.
• Understanding the construction of annual budgets, and experienced in the monthly monitoring of the individual aspects critically to improve efficiency.

June to December
- Managed Durham Area Office on interim basis until replacement was found in addition to maintaining role as Area Manager for Badger in Middlesex, Oxford, and Elgin Counties. In this capacity I reported to Eastern Canada Regional Manager.
- Ensured fleet management program got back on track. Selected, interviewed, hired, and trained new staff.
- Acquired additional field units and was able to keep them working by hiring and training quality individuals and developing them into solid operators.
- Endeared the organization to new clients by cross promoting other services with hydro excavation work in effort to reduce their cost.
- Obtained additional dump locations within the Durham area in effort to create better response time on round trip unloading.
- Created partnerships with water supply companies in the Region in attempt to reduce downtime while working on bigger jobsites.
- Trained new Durham Area Manager on all Badger Corporate policies, paperwork and reporting.
January to June:
- Hired and trained staff to run 2 flusher units out of a satellite office in the Cambridge Area.
- Cold call sales in effort to aggressively develop sewer services market in the Cambridge area, and the hydro excavation work in the London Area.
- Used online tools such as Merx, Biddingo, and Reed Connect Construction Data services, to learn of upcoming projects and identify areas with awarded jobs where our services could be used.
- Developed solid and consistent relationships with new clients thorough sound pre job assessments, accurate quotation, and job performance follow ups, creating repeat revenue in the regions.
- Ensured proper training of field staff.

- Finalized all work tickets for invoicing, and reviewed all daily paperwork for accuracy and adherence to company policies.
Area Manager, Badger Daylighting - London Area (April 2009-Jan 2012)
Operations Manager, Benko Sewer Service - Southern Ontario, (Jan 2007 - Mar 2011)
- Daily dispatch and job planning in a 16 truck, unionized environment with a crew of over 40 members and of local Operators Union.
- Dealt with the general public in instances of blowback interference and traffic control.
- Received initial inbound calls and follow through with customer until job completion.
- Quote prices for work to be performed. Base quotes for hydro excavation jobs on knowledge of soil conditions, depth and width of excavation, distance between truck placement and excavation location, and distance to dump and water. Flush and Video work priced based on these factors in addition to pipe dimensions and distances, and the possibility of heavy debris or constant size changing on CCTV units.
- Assessed potential work sites and tendered jobs for pricing. Provide quotations and pricing for clients.
- Incorporated third party services on a sub-contract basis to provide specialized services.
- Accountable for third party production, payables and receivables in such instances.
- Active member of Joint Health and Safety Committee.
- Follow sales leads and provide cold sales calls in effort to develop the business further.
- Anticipation, coordination, and implemented proper traffic controls as per MTO Book 7 legislation.
- Administered shop safety inspections, unit field inspections, making recommendations for corrective actions and implementing these corrections where possible.
- Kept records of monthly safety meetings, pre job plans on critical tasks, and conducted a Field Level risk assessment for each job. Reviewed and logged manifests, pre job safety forms, and confined space reports for accuracy and compliance.
- Worked closely with shop mechanic, Eastern Canada Fleet Manager, and Operators of equipment to ensure that the Fleet Maintenance Program is being followed closely. Reviewed and filed all Pre-Trip Inspection forms, accountable for work being done on units and the associated costs.
- Analyze monthly Profit and Loss statements.
- Maintained all personnel records and determined eligibility for training and re-training.
- Documentation and investigation of incidences and near misses. Follow up with correctable action plans and appropriate disciplinary actions.
- Hiring and development of new Operators, ensuring they have the necessary training and following up on work performed to ensure proper work procedures are being followed. Maintaining compliance to safety and high service standards and ensuring they are being met on-site daily.
- Ensure staff equipped with proper PPE and ensuring items being used correctly. Addressing the need for heightened PPE on a per job basis.
- Ensuring that fleet management programs are carried out, and setting up the necessary supplier relationships to keep the trucks in good working order. Ensure the region is profitable by adding value when making decisions on cost.
- Conducted interviews for potential employees selected on merit of their resumes. Hire new candidates based on aptitude and attitude, and follow though with full employee training.
- Available to emergency phone every day, 24 hours a day with the exception of booked vacation time.
- Represent the corporation in fulfilling obligations under the collective bargaining agreement between the company and the Operators Union.
Hydro Excavator Unit/Flusher Truck/CCTV Operator & Lead Hand, Benko Sewer Services, London, Ont. (2002-2006)
- Operated a combination flush and vacuum truck in order to clean sewer pipes with high pressure water and removing debris with vacuum hose to facilitate video inspection.
- Operated a hydro excavation truck to expose buried utilities and other buried infrastructure using a combination of high pressure water and vacuum pipe.
- Transported debris from jobsite to various disposal sites such as landfills, lagoons, and quarries.
- Lead hand on all projects requiring more than 2 onsite workers, prepared necessary paperwork to comply with all company and contractor health and safety regulations. Jobs include confined space work such as wet well and treatment facility tank cleaning
- Became Supervisor in July of 2005.
High Pressure Water Blaster/Vacuum Truck Operator, Phillips Environmental Services & Hydra Dyne Industrial Cleaning Services, London, Ont. (1998-2001)
- Drove a vacuum truck to various industrial settings and removed hazardous waste for disposal at various waste handling facilities.
