PATIENT CARE

FRAME AND LENS SELECTION

Analyze and interpret patient’s prescription to determine lens specifications required. With this information and the patient’s needs and wants, I created a frame and lens solution for the patient, carefully explaining benefits and features of products. I continually expand my knowledge of lens materials and designs as new technologies are developed to match the doctors prescription with the most appropriate lens to duplicate the patient’s visual experience in the exam room.

Facial, lens, and prescription measurements taken, including optical center, p.d., base curve, center/edge thickness, and segment height, as well as any specialty measurements needed.

Ordered jobs through appropriate lab based on prescription need.

Verify completed work with manual or automatic lensmeter, assuring lenses were fabricated as ordered and within tolerance specifications.

Instruct patient about adaptation to new prescription as well as how and when to wear the new glasses. Relay information from the prescribing doctor regarding tests the patient had during the previous visit.
