Title: AN EVAPORATIVE COOLING SYSTEM WITH SLIDING PIN TRANSMISSION.

An evaporative air cooler is best suited for summer air conditioning in arid regions. It is the cheaper form of cooling the air. A conventional air cooler consists of two motors one for running the fan and other for pumping the water. Using two motors in a cooler increases its cost as well as power consumption also.

The Newly developed sliding pin transmission will eliminate the above discussion problem. Sliding pin transmission is new way of transmitting the power between two shafts which are kept perpendicular to each other. By using two sleeves and four pins we can completely eliminate the use of pump motor and overcoming the traditional mode of using two motors. The driving power for pump motor can be tapped from fan motor. It is found that power required by pump is only 27w as compared to rated power of 45w.

The performance of this cooler can be increased by reducing the frictional losses and by better workmanship i.e.., by proper alignment of sleeves, shafts and by drilling holes properly.
