Job Summary:
The Pine Bluff School District is seeking professional and dedicated Commissioned School
Security Officers (CSSO's) to join our team. In this role, you will provide armed security and
help create a safe and supportive environment for students, staff, and visitors. CSSO's patrol
school buildings and grounds, respond to incidents, and assist with emergency procedures,
ensuring the highest standards of safety and vigilance across the district.
Requirements:
Must have a valid Arkansas driver's license and use of an automobile is required
High School Diploma or equivalent is required
Three (3) to five (5) years security, law enforcement, or military experience preferred
All applicants must be at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment
Good working knowledge of security operations, safety practices in a school environment and enforcement procedures
Must be able to cope with mental and emotional stress related to working conditions
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, with staff, parents, students, and the school system
Ability to perform duties in a professional manner and appearance
Ability to write and investigate required reports
Ability to make independent and good judgment decisions within proper policy and procedures
Must pass physical exam and drug test
Individual must have high integrity, possess strong leadership skills and be extremely reliable Responsiblities:
Maintains law and order at District facilities, including prevention and control of incidents of violence directed against District facilities, personnel, or students
Cooperates with local law-enforcement agencies in the prevention, control, and investigation of antisocial or illegal activities by persons or groups directed against District facilities, personnel or students
Acts as a deterrent to crime by performing thorough post checks, maintaining access control and remaining visible
Performs foot patrol of the campus to monitor behavior, secure buildings and property
Maintains order during lunch hour and changing of classes
Work is performed inside and outside the building with exposure to inclement weather
Candidates must have physical ability to spend extended periods of time walking and standing
Must possess exemplary work ethic and maintains good relations with school personnel and the public
Thinks clearly and logically, uses good judgment, and makes quick and appropriate decisions in emergencies
Reads, interprets, applies, and explains rules, regulations, policies and procedures
Effectively mediates disputes and creates collaboration for problem solving
Administers first aid, including CPR methods
Patrol school buildings and grounds to prevent unauthorized access
Monitor emergency management systems and security cameras
Assist with emergency drills, evacuations, and procedures
Respond to security incidents in a calm, effective manner
Support traffic flow before and after school
Perform hourly building security checks
Must complete and maintain Commissioned School Security Officer certification
Ability to complete required firearms training provided by the district
Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations
Proficiency with communication equipment and basic computer skills
Commitment to professionalism and ethical conduct at all times
Regular attendance and punctuality are essential
Report suspected bullying, neglect, or abuse to the appropriate personnel
Comply with all district, state, and federal security guidelines
Communicate with supervisors via email and text
Complete other duties as assigned by your immediate supervisor
Work extra shifts at after school events Ongoing Training:
Refresher training: Required every odd-numbered year
Renewal training: Required every even-numbered year
