The Employee Relations (ER) Manager is a key leadership position responsible for shaping and executing the site’s Employee Relations strategy. This role ensures fair, consistent, and legally compliant application of HR policies while fostering a positive and productive workplace. Acting as the site’s subject matter expert on labor law and conflict resolution, the ER Manager partners with leaders, coaches managers, and oversees complex investigations to mitigate risk and strengthen organizational culture.
Key Responsibilities
A. Employee Relations Governance & Risk Management
Strategic ER Leadership: Own and manage the full spectrum of Employee Relations activities, ensuring alignment with business objectives and legal requirements.
Legal Compliance & Policy Development: Serve as the site expert on Philippine labor laws (e.g., DOLE regulations) and EEO principles. Guide policy interpretation and support development of new HR policies to ensure fairness and defensibility.
Investigation Oversight: Lead and oversee sensitive, high-level investigations into employee complaints and policy violations. Ensure timely resolution, accurate documentation, and adherence to standards.
Conflict Resolution: Provide expert advice on complex workplace issues, focusing on proactive solutions and risk mitigation.
B. Manager Coaching & Performance Oversight
Performance Management Governance: Ensure consistency and fairness in performance management processes, mitigating legal risks.
Manager Coaching: Advise and coach managers on policy interpretation, documentation, and handling employee issues effectively.
Policy Education: Drive compliance and understanding of company policies and labor laws through training and communication initiatives.
C. Team Leadership, Analytics & HR Integration
Lead the ER Team: Mentor and develop ER Advisors to deliver consistent, high-quality support.
Data-Driven Insights: Develop and analyze ER metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities. Partner with leadership to inform decisions.
Engagement & Collaboration: Work closely with HR Business Partners, HR Operations, and Corporate HR to support engagement initiatives and integrate ER strategies with broader HR programs.
Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with HR Centers of Excellence, Corporate Legal, and site leadership to deliver aligned HR solutions.
Confidentiality: Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality in handling sensitive employee information.
Qualifications
Education: Law degree highly preferred.
Experience: Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in Employee Relations, Labor Law, and HR Management within a large or high-volume organization.
Expertise: Strong background in managing complex investigations, performance improvement processes, and providing legal counsel on employment matters.
Leadership: Proven experience leading and mentoring HR/ER professionals.
Skills: Exceptional coaching, mediation, communication, and legal research skills.
Knowledge: Deep understanding of Philippine labor laws and regulations.
