American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical/Telemetry Oncology unit, requiring a current OH or compact RN license and strong telemetry skills.
Job Details
• Position is on a Medical Surgical/Telemetry Oncology unit caring for adult and geriatric patients,
• Primary patient population includes individuals with various solid tumor cancers such as breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancers, as well as patients receiving antineoplastic chemotherapy,
• Staffing ratio goal is 1:4, but may be 1:5 depending on unit needs,
• Day and night 12-hour rotating shifts with variability based on department requirements,
• No blocked scheduling is offered, but self-scheduling requests are considered prior to balancing and posting the final schedule,
• Floating required to other Med Surg Oncology units,
• Uses Epic for computerized charting; Epic experience preferred,
• Weekends scheduled variably based on unit needs,
Job Requirements
• Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration,
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required,
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required,
• Skills in telemetry monitoring and telemetry interpretation required,
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program,
• Previous travel experience preferred,
• Oncology (ONS chemo) certification preferred but not required,
Additional Information
• Unit focuses on infection prevention protocols and patient fall precautions,
• Cares for patients throughout all phases of their cancer journey, including end-of-life care and those with general med surg issues,
• First week of orientation is Monday to Friday on dayshift, followed by 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor,
• References required from at least two professionals, including one manager/director or formal leader,
• Former employees are eligible if they have not worked at the facility within the last 6 months; current employees are not eligible,
• All candidates must complete required Ohio fingerprinting as soon as contract is signed,
• Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers,
• Time off requests must be submitted and built into the contract,
