As an Assistant Vice President, Front End UX/UI Developer, you will be a main architect of our React.js based user interfaces helping to lead the entire front end development process and drive outstanding user engagement. You will participate in hack-a-thons, partner with universities on innovation events, work with our famed Stamford Innovation Station—you'll bring us ideas about how to do things differently. You'll be defining what Front End Engineering and UX can mean here—and how it can affect the entire financial technology industry.

We'll depend on you to:

Lead a cross-shore front end development team

Influence and collaborate with UX designers, product owners, and backend engineers to create amazing user experiences

Mentor and influence colleagues up and down the organization

Participate in Agile scrums with cross-functional teams

Participate in agile sprints including planning, daily standups, backlog grooming sessions, and reviews

Analyze and troubleshoot UI defects, performance issues, identify root causes and implement fixes

Provide 24 7 on-call support periodically throughout the year for front end production incidents

Work with third party vendors to develop or integrate front end software components

Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelor's degree and a minimum 4 years of experience in front end web application development OR, in lieu of degree, High School Diploma/GED and 6 years of frontend development experience

Minimum of 2 years of experience specifically with React.js development

Strong background in JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3

Experience with front end build tools and dependency management (e.g., npm, webpack)

Ability to balance design, usability, and performance considerations

Critical Thinking and Creativity

Ability and flexibility to travel for business as required

Desired Characteristics:

Participation in/graduation from Synchrony's Business Leadership Program

Deep experience building responsive and accessible web applications

Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies

Experience with modern testing frameworks like Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress

Experience with continuous integration environments like Jenkins or GitHub Actions

Experience working with cloud platforms for deployment and monitoring (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Pivotal Cloud Foundry)

Familiarity with UX design tools and principles (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD)

Understanding of mobile-first and progressive web application (PWA) development

Working knowledge of mobile web technologies including HTML5, CSS3, and browser compatibility

Grade/Level: 10

The salary range for this position is 75,000.00 - 130,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:

You must be 18 years or older

You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
