Job Title: Controls Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will partner with engineering leads to support the design, specification, installation, startup, and validation of process control systems, electrical systems, and instrumentation for capital and upgrade projects. You will ensure compliance with site specifications, standards, and cGMP, and coordinate with various stakeholders to achieve complete and timely project implementation. The role involves researching new technologies and procedures to improve business processes and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with the engineering lead to support design, specification, installation, startup, and validation of process control systems and electrical systems.

Ensure compliance with site specifications, standards, and cGMP.

Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and suppliers for timely project design and implementation.

Research and evaluate new technologies and procedures to enhance automation and control processes.

Identify and champion solutions for continuous improvement in automation control and software systems.

Work with Operations to develop and implement control strategies.

Support design and validation of building electrical distribution equipment from medium voltage services to equipment MCC.

Review electrical equipment thermography study and determine necessary actions.

Update single line drawings, panel schedules, and control diagrams.

Evaluate time current curves to select appropriate circuit breakers and fuses.Essential Skills

5–7 years of experience in industrial electrical and automation systems.

Proficiency in programming/troubleshooting PLCs and VFDs.

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

Hands-on experience with PLCs, particularly Allen-Bradley, and control systems for utility infrastructure.

Experience with SKM, arc flash, electrical infrastructure, medium voltage systems, PLC programming, and Allen-Bradley systems.Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with network and system administration of Microsoft-based systems.

Proficient in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.

Ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.

Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Analytical skills to identify and solve problems effectively.

Willingness to travel to domestic and international supplier sites (less than 10% of the time).Work Environment

This position is based in a clean, regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment with a Monday to Friday first shift schedule. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.07 - $57.69/hr.
