RESEARCH & POLICY LITERACY INTERNSHIP

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Research & Policy Literacy Internship equips emerging analysts and communicators to bridge the gap between data, narrative, and public understanding. Interns learn to interpret research, translate policy into accessible language, and support MTDMN storytelling initiatives with evidence-based insight. This internship is ideal for individuals passionate about public health, psychology, sociology, journalism, behavioral health, and community education.

PROGRAM GOALS

1. Transform research into relatable, human-centered narratives.

2. Build literacy in key national policy areas (behavioral health, education, belonging, CCBHC expansion, public-health infrastructure).

3. Support MTDMN content teams with accurate and relevant research insights.

4. Identify emerging trends related to mental health, youth wellbeing, and community resilience.

5. Strengthen ethical, culturally responsive communication skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review research on belonging, identity, family systems, and emotional wellness.

• Develop concise policy summaries for the MTDMN story teams.

• Contribute to educational toolkits and media segments.

• Monitor national behavioral-health and education news.

• Support documentary and series development with research briefs.

• Participate in Research & Policy Labs and collaborative learning sessions.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Interns will learn to:

• Translate complex research into accessible language.

• Understand the policy landscape affecting youth, families, and communities.

• Communicate trends clearly, accurately, and ethically.

• Support content creation using data-informed insights.
