Commercial Estimator – Columbus, Ohio

Salary: $125,000 – $145,000 + Bonus + Benefits

Commercial General Contractor

We are partnering with a well-established Commercial General Contractor in Columbus, Ohio, currently seeking a talented Commercial Estimator to join their team. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants long-term stability, a strong project pipeline, and the ability to influence estimating strategy within a growing business.

The Role

As a key member of the preconstruction team, you will be responsible for preparing detailed estimates, coordinating bids, analyzing drawings and specifications, and supporting strategic planning on upcoming projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate conceptual and hard-bid estimates for commercial projects

• Review drawings, specifications and subcontractor proposals

• Lead quantity take-offs and cost analysis

• Create and manage bid packages

• Build and maintain strong subcontractor relationships

• Support preconstruction planning and value-engineering solutions

• Work closely with project managers, field teams, and leadership during handoff

Experience Required

• 5+ years estimating experience with a commercial general contractor

• Strong knowledge of commercial construction (office, retail, education, industrial, etc.)

• Proficiency with estimating software (HCSS HeavyBid, Sage, On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam preferred)

• Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings, and specs

• Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills
