Summary of Position:
Klein & Hoffman is seeking a dedicated and energetic Architectural Engineering Associate with a passion for unique buildings and problem-solving abilities to join our team. This individual will work collaboratively with a team of experienced professionals to learn and implement building restoration projects. This position will be responsible for providing services in the following areas: building diagnostics and rehabilitation of building facades, roofs, plazas, waterproofing, curtainwalls and windows.
In accordance with Illinois pay transparency laws, we are providing a good faith estimate of the salary range for this position. The anticipated salary for this role is $70,000 -$77,000 based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and internal equity. Employees may also be eligible for additional compensation, including bonuses and benefits. This estimate is subject to change based on business needs and market conditions. This position is considered a salaried exempt position, technical salaried exempt staff are eligible to earn additional compensation for authorized billable hours in excess of 40 billable hours at 1.0 times the hourly rate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following is intended to provide a representative a list of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required for this position. Under supervision, direction and support of the Project Manager/Principal an Associate I will perform, including, but not limited to, the following:
Review of original documentation and architectural drawings.
Perform visual/hands-on assessments, condition assessments and investigations to document the condition and extent of distress or deterioration of existing building envelopes.
Prepare written technical reports which summarize your field observations, conclusions, recommendations, and engineer's opinion of cost.
Assist in preparation of design, construction documents, and solutions to building envelope rehabilitation projects.
Research and maintain conformance with building standards, established architectural practices, and applicable building codes.
Perform construction administration services including project management, field construction observation, project meeting attendance meetings, RFI response, submittal review, and written field reports.
Fosters a commitment to client service.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in architecture, architectural engineering or related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
Accredited degree and path to architect licensure preferred.
0-2 years of work experience including prior intern experience in a related field.
Strong technical communication skills, both verbal and written.
Proficient computer skills, including AutoCAD (Revit is preferred but not required), Microsoft Office and Bluebeam.
An interest in building enclosure, field testing, and building restoration.
A team player mentality with an eagerness to take on new and challenging roles and responsibilities.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry material and equipment up to 50 lbs.
Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
Able to ride suspended scaffolding and work from heights desired.
