Geotechnical Engineer

National Engineering & Architectural Services Inc. (NEAS Inc.) is a Columbus, OH based firm that offers various services including, but not limited to Geotechnical Engineering, Surveying, Materials Testing, and Inspection for both public and private sector clients in Ohio and surrounding states. NEAS Inc. currently has an opening for an entry level at our Columbus, OH office. This position is classified as permanent full-time. As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for the preparation of technical reports, specifications, plans, designing foundations, retaining walls, and other geotechnical aspects of construction. You must be able to perform field inspections of geotechnical, roadway, and foundational projects. Possession of a strong technical education, a professional demeanor, and a desire to learn will be essential to this position.

* Preparing proposals, letters, reports, and other project related correspondence.

* Managing a variety of geotechnical projects.

* Laying out and scheduling of drilling and geotechnical investigation projects.

* Performing complex site inspections; including soil, concrete and asphalt quality control evaluations.

* Evaluating soils and construction materials.

* Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a geotechnical focus preferred.

* Previous Co-op/Intern experience and/or EIT with intention to obtain PE license preferred, but not required

* Experience with reading plans and specification, ODOT plan experience preferred.

* Excellent communication, report writing and customer relations skills.

* Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment.

* Field experience with construction monitoring is preferred, but not required.

* Must be willing to spend at least 75% of time working in the field.

* Demonstrated ability to adapt to new challenges and learn new concepts.

* Must possess and maintain a valid U.S. Driver’s license as well as a clean driving record.

* The ability to lift 50+ pounds, stand for long periods of time, work from heights and in tight spaces, and work in inclement weather.

* Willingness to travel to cover out-of-town overnight projects.

* Ability to work overtime, including weekends, on an as-needed basis.

* Experience with Microstation, Geopak, and AutoCAD is preferred. xrczosw
