Faststream is partnering with a ship management organisation to appoint an Engine Training Instructor for their in-house Maritime Training Centre.

This role is ideal for a seasoned marine engineer who is passionate about developing seafarer competency and raising technical standards across a diverse fleet.

Key Responsibilities: Training Delivery Deliver competency-based engineering courses, including Marine Engineering, Auxiliary Machinery, Electrical & Control Systems, ERM, Maintenance & Repair, and Watchkeeping.

Conduct practical workshops and simulator-based training using the Engine Room Simulator.

Provide coaching and mentoring to cadets and serving officers; support revalidation and career progression programmes.

Curriculum & Quality Prepare and update lesson plans, training materials, and assessment tools aligned with STCW requirements.

Lead module ownership including content updates, assessment banks, marking guides, and version control.

Participate in internal audits and contribute to accreditation readiness and compliance.

Regulatory Compliance Ensure delivery meets STCW and national regulatory standards.

Maintain accurate records for audit purposes and uphold instructor CPD requirements.

Support engineering competence frameworks and curriculum validation efforts.

Safety & Professional Standards Uphold strong safety culture in training environments.

Conduct pre-lesson risk assessments and equipment checks.

Maintain professional teaching standards and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Requirements STCW III/2 CoC (2nd Engineer or higher) – Motor, Foreign-Going; eligible for recognition.

Minimum 5 years’ management-level sea service on motor vessels.

Prior instructional or assessor experience; familiarity with IMO Model Courses.

Strong competency in ERS, PMS, fuel systems, auxiliaries, automation, and MARPOL VI.

Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.

Proactive, disciplined, and able to influence safety and competency standards.
