Essential Functions and Basic Duties

Position-Specific Performance Expectations

Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on assessment to optimize outcomes and resource utilization.

Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.

Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including:

Transfers

Discharges

Referrals

Spiritual and psychosocial support needs

Identifies communication barriers considering psychosocial, literacy, financial, and cultural factors.

Assesses learning needs of patient/family and provides age-appropriate, culturally sensitive education.

Delegates patient care tasks to ancillary personnel as appropriate; may precept student nurses and new staff.

Demonstrates strong critical thinking, sound judgment, and independence in care delivery.

Works effectively in fast-paced environments, responding appropriately to urgent situations.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Partners with healthcare consumers to implement patient-centered care plans.

Develops therapeutic relationships using caring attitudes and behaviors.

Applies evidence-based interventions to achieve optimal outcomes.

Integrates technology and critical thinking into daily practice.

Delegates appropriately, ensuring patient health, safety, and well-being.

Demonstrates respect, empathy, and equity in interactions with diverse and vulnerable populations.

Maintains strict patient confidentiality at all times.

Adheres to all departmental, hospital, state, and federal regulatory requirements.

Follows safety protocols to maintain a secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Completes required annual education, in-services, and licensure/certifications.

Attends staff meetings or reviews meeting minutes when unable to attend.

Reports to work on time and completes tasks within designated timeframes.

Maintains effective communication and positive working relationships with all stakeholders.

Demonstrates initiative, self-motivation, and time management to maintain productivity.

Participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Must be at least 16 years of age (21 for driving positions)

Must be legally eligible to work in the United States

Must pass a background check

Must pass drug screening and breath alcohol testing (if applicable)

Must complete an employee health meeting

Education / Licensure / Certification

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

Licensure: Unencumbered RN license in Colorado or Compact State – Required

Certifications:

BLS – Required

ACLS – Required

PALS or ENPC – Required

TNCC – Preferred

Experience

Med/Surg experience – Preferred
