WE ARE HIRING – INPATIENT MEDICAL CODER (REMOTE AFTER TRAINING)
We’re looking for an experienced Inpatient Medical Coder with strong acute care experience to join our team. This role begins onsite for 1–2 weeks of training and then transitions to remote work once responsibilities are mastered. The Hiring Manager is flexible.
Role Overview
The coder will be responsible for accurate and compliant coding of inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department (ED) records. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, knowledgeable in federal and payor guidelines, and able to work independently with minimal training.
Key Responsibilities
Perform coding for inpatient, outpatient, and ED encounters
Apply correct ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT-4 codes
Use encoder systems and coding applications (3M/HDS)
Ensure compliance with coding guidelines, payor rules, and federal billing regulations
Research and resolve coding-related questions and documentation issues
Maintain accuracy, productivity, and quality standards
Assist with coder training as needed
Required Skills & Experience
4+ years of inpatient coding experience strongly preferred
EPIC and 3M experience required
Strong knowledge of:
Anatomy & physiology
Disease processes
Coding and billing regulations
Federal and payor guidelines
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Encoders, EMRs)
Education & Certifications
High School Diploma or GED
AHIMA credentials: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CCP
CCS certification is required
