Salary Range for this position is $75k - $85k based upon experience and/or education with a 5% bonus potential

As a Process Engineer at GFS Chemicals, you will be a leader within the Fine Organics operation that provides input between process development laboratory, kilo lab/pilot operations, and commercial production planning. Your responsibilities will include:
Responsibilities:
Maintains, reviews, and updates all batch preps associated with the Fine Organics division
Publishes manufacturing Routes in D365
Publishes batch prep instructions to each specific manufacturing Route in D365
Seeks input from adjacent departments when necessary
Continuous improvement leadership Schedules daily "Gemba" walks on the production floor to interview operators and follow work instructions, seeking opportunities for improvement and where additional detail is needed.
Identifies assets and processes where engineering improvements can be made
Targets process safety and productivity improvement projects
Prepares budgetary costing for suggested projects and reports to GM
Acts as primary junction between R&D lab and commercial production plant
Reviews R&D preps before manufacturing at commercial scale
Replicates R&D preps in kilo lab or pilot plant. Translates R&D batch instructions to meet equipment needs.
Uses knowledge of chemistry and plant processes to challenge the R&D team to identify critical quality parameters during process development
Provides technical support to Production Supervisor or Operations Manager
Is a technical expert on process activities and equipment capabilities
Offers advice and suggestions on scheduling
Work orders / Repairs / Improvements
Enters thorough and descriptive work orders for continuous improvement projects approved by the GM
Coordinates and communicates with Engineering for continuous improvement projects
Understands how to operate and navigate the automation control system to perform the following functions:
Identify new opportunities for automation technology to reduce workload or operational complexity
Inspections
Audits Operator batch records for completion Qualifications
Chemical Engineering degree required.
Advanced degree in engineering or chemistry preferred
4-7 years of experience in batch chemical manufacturing, including process chemistry/R&D
Read and comprehend written instructions related to chemical processes
Proficiency in organic chemistry, process engineering and process safety. Ability to write instructions based on established or developmental batch prep for equipment of different sizes.
Proficiency in root cause analysis
Basic project management skills
Experience training new employees on established processes
Ability to navigate, control, and read instructions with an automation control system
Good organizational, housekeeping and inventory management practices
Experience with ERP systems, Microsoft Office, and Sharepoint
Problem solving/analytical and math skills
Knowledgeable of hazardous waste handling and disposal
Maintains a positive attitude toward work and others
Works well under minimal supervision
Experience in lean manufacturing systems such as Gemba Walks, Kaizen Events, 5S, etc.
