Hiring: IT Project Manager – Cybersecurity MSSP Transition (Contract)
Location: Edmonton, AB (Onsite Hybrid option after onboarding)
Engagement: Jan 2026 – July 2026 (Possible extension)
We are seeking a results-driven IT Project Manager with hands-on experience transitioning cybersecurity services to a Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP). This role is critical in ensuring a seamless migration of operational security capabilities, minimizing risk, maintaining compliance, and enabling improved security service performance.
What You’ll Do
Project Leadership & Delivery
Lead end-to-end planning, execution, testing, training, and adoption for MSSP transition programs.
Oversee delivery of SOC services, threat intelligence, incident response, and vulnerability management.
Drive execution across internal teams, external vendors, and cybersecurity SMEs.
Vendor Management & Transition Governance
Manage and coordinate all activities related to onboarding a new MSSP.
Consolidate technical + contractual documentation; ensure obligations and requirements are met.
Lead transition governance, including risk/issue escalation and resolution.
Align activities across internal IT, cybersecurity teams, vendor PMs, and service teams.
Guide and prioritize Business Analyst support during onboarding.
Monitor service levels and contractual deliverables post-transition.
Security Operations Readiness
Align transition with cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, CIS, etc.).
Validate handover criteria: runbooks, escalation paths, incident workflows, dashboards.
Support SOC knowledge transfer and readiness.
Risk, Compliance & Quality Assurance
Monitor security and continuity risks throughout transition.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and cybersecurity requirements.
Coordinate service acceptance testing, readiness reviews, and maturity assessments.
What You Bring
5+ years IT Project Management experience (Agile/Waterfall).
Managed at least two cybersecurity projects, ideally MSSP service transitions.
Strong experience with vendor transitions or outsourced security service onboarding.
Solid understanding of MSSPs, SOC operations, SIEM, SOAR, and security event monitoring.
Excellent communication and executive reporting skills (up to C-suite).
Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, CIS, etc.)
Public sector experience is an asset.
PMP required or in progress; ITIL v3/v4 is an asset.
5+ years IT experience across infrastructure, applications, or security domains.
Work Model
Onsite: Edmonton
Hybrid option (3 days onsite) may be considered once the project is running smoothly.
No travel requirements.
