Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio is currently seeking a Shelter Advocate Team Lead for CHOICES in Columbus, Ohio. LSS CHOICES for Victims of Domestic Violence has been the sole resource for victims seeking shelter in Franklin County for more than four decades, providing a Temporary Emergency Shelter, 24-Hour Crisis Hotline, DV Counseling, Legal Advocacy, Peer Support Groups and more.

What will I do as the Shelter Advocate Team Lead with Lutheran Social Services?
Collaborate with the Director of Quality Performance and Improvement (QPI) consistent, relevant training for all departments.
Collaborate with the Director of Operations training structure, curricula, and schedules for current Choices employees, to include scheduling of guests for all staff meetings.
Assist Shelter Manager with oversight of Shelter Services day to day operations.
Assist staff improve upon or enhance existing skills and understanding of new or changing policies.
Schedules and organizes attendees for staff trainings: invite staff to trainings, inform managers and trainers of invitations, follow-up with staff that have not responded, confirm final list of attendees, work with staff to produce training roster, ensure that training attendees receive all credit for training.
Oversees actions for staff that miss confirmed trainings which may include rescheduling for next available trainings and informing managers of potential disciplinary actions and/or removal from staff schedules, in collaboration with program leadership.
Develops and maintains professional relationships with Directors, Managers, and staff within all Human Services programs.
Maintain flexibility with schedule to meet needs of Choices.
Support and act as lead for shelter advocates/volunteers to provide high quality shelter services for our residents.
Provide brief intervention, domestic violence education, and safety planning and de-escalation services.
Provide crisis intervention, safety planning and clear directions for individuals and families while in CHOICES shelter.
Provide orientation, training, and coaching that will enhance the ethical, confidential and respectful delivery of services to our residents.
Create a trauma informed, emotionally safe environment for all residents.
Assist in the completion of client intake and exit protocols, as needed.
Assist residents in accessing shelter resources to meet their basic needs.
Monitor regularly scheduled facility and room checks.
Provide on the spot guidance, feedback, and direction to shelter staff.
Follow all protocols related to the security cameras, emergency evacuation and access to the building.
Act as the point of contact on a given shift for all emergencies and decisions outside normal protocols.
Assist in the hiring process for Shelter Advocates.
Actively participate in staff meetings and case review.
Coordinate service delivery and effectively communicate with Case Managers and other shelter and program staff members.
Participate in On-call rotations and attend all meetings and trainings necessary.
Performs all other duties as assigned. Requirements for the Shelter Advocate Team Lead with Lutheran Social Services:
2 years college, preferably in social work or human services fields, four-year degree in social work preferred; will consider HS diploma/GED with equivalent relevant experience.
Demonstrated critical thinking, crisis intervention, problem solving and communication skills
At least 6 months of service with LSS and acceptable work performance, including no active disciplinary actions
Strong Leadership abilities
Complete and maintain applicable trainings including NCI, CPR, etc
