About the project
The Community Sport and Health Cooperation Initiative in Nepal is a collaboration led by PATH in partnership with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). Aligned with IOC's Olympism365 strategy and Nepal's Multisectoral Action Plan (MSAP) for the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), this initiative leverages sports as a tool to enhance health and well-being.
Scope of services
The consultant (based in Kathmandu, Nepal) will work for this initiative, ensuring seamless coordination between PATH’s South Asia Hub team, Global Team, Local Implementation Partner, IOC, and in-country stakeholders like Nepal Olympic Committee, WHO Nepal, Social Welfare Council and relevant line ministries. The role involves overseeing implementation, stakeholder engagement, documentation, and program reporting, as outlined in the detailed scope of work below:
Stakeholder coordination and partnership management: Facilitate effective coordination among PATH teams, local implementation partners, government agencies, sports bodies (including NOC and IOC), and development partners to ensure smooth program execution.
Program implementation oversight and field support: Provide on-ground support for planning, implementing, and monitoring sport-based health interventions in schools and communities, ensuring quality and adherence to program objectives.
Capacity building and training facilitation: Coordinate and support training programs for coaches, teachers, youth leaders, and community facilitators, strengthening their capacity to deliver program interventions.
Monitoring, documentation, and reporting: Lead program documentation and maintain records of activities, outcomes, and lessons learned; prepare high-quality progress reports and insights for PATH, donors, and national stakeholders.
Advocacy, representation, and multi-sectoral engagement: Represent PATH in meetings, workshops, and advocacy events at local, regional, and national levels to advance program priorities and foster strong multi-sectoral collaboration.
Community and institutional engagement: Engage with schools, community organizations, and local networks to mobilize participation, enhance ownership, and support the sustainable integration of project activities.
Payment milestones
The consultant will be engaged for 20 days per month, over the 7-month contract period (Till July 31, 2026). This is extendable based on the performance and project extension.
Deliverables
Monthly report having summary of work undertaken during the month- By the end of each month
Facilitation of national-level stakeholders’ meetings and partnership engagements
Required Experience and qualifications
MBBS/ BDS/ B.Sc. Nursing preferred with an essential Masters/ PG Diploma in Public Health or Health Management
At least 3-4 years of experience in public health sector focusing on planning and implementation of public health programs and research
Technical knowledge and field experience of planning and implementation in public health programs
Experience with INGOs in the health sector and/or Ministries of Health, government is preferable.
Skills/ Abilities
Self-starter and committed to performing their duties with a high degree of autonomy and independence in line with project goals and objectives.
Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills in English and Nepali
Direct experience of independently liaising with government health functionaries, district level administrators and other development partners.
Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-site team-based organizational structure, including partners and other collaborators.
Computer proficiency with high level of familiarity with commonly used packages like MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook & Web surfing to search relevant data & documents
Ability to handle a variety of assignments under pressure of deadlines
Must have legal authorization to work in Nepal.
