Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing respiratory therapy services to inpatients, outpatients, and UHS staff in a timely, accurate, and reliable manner.

Responsibilities

Administers respiratory therapy procedures as directed by the manager.

Performs a variety of therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory procedures.

Manages mechanical ventilation and associated alarms.

Conducts patient education on respiratory therapy procedures and devices.

Records and reports appropriately the results of all procedures.

Maintains patient healthcare information system and medication administration programs.

Assists in departmental in-service programs and performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Graduation from an accredited School for Respiratory Therapy.

New York State Respiratory Therapy Permit or License.

Registered by the NBRC as a Respiratory Therapist.

BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association.

1+ years of experience in a clinical setting.
