Job Description:
We are looking for a skilled Ceph Storage Operator/Administrator to manage, monitor, and optimize large-scale distributed storage systems. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Ceph clusters and will be responsible for maintaining performance, scalability, and reliability across storage infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
• Deploy, configure, and manage Ceph clusters (RADOS, RBD, CephFS, RGW).
• Monitor cluster health and ensure high availability and fault tolerance.
• Troubleshoot storage-related issues, including OSDs, MONs, MDS, RGW.
• Perform upgrades, scaling, and patching of Ceph environments.
• Implement performance tuning and optimization for large data workloads.
• Manage user access, quotas, and policies for CephFS and object storage.
• Integrate Ceph with OpenStack, Kubernetes, Proxmox, or other cloud platforms (if applicable).
• Automate operations using scripting (Python, Bash, Ansible, etc.).
• Ensure data security, backup, and disaster recovery strategies are in place.
• Maintain documentation and provide support to application/DevOps teams.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Strong hands-on experience with Ceph storage systems (minimum 2–3 years).
• Knowledge of Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) system administration.
• Experience with networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, bonding, jumbo frames).
• Familiarity with containerized environments (Kubernetes, Docker) – preferred.
• Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.).
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Scripting knowledge in Bash/Python/Ansible.
• Understanding of data replication, erasure coding, snapshots, and tiering.
Good to Have:
• Experience with OpenStack, Proxmox, or VMware integration.
• Knowledge of backup solutions and disaster recovery with Ceph.
• Ceph certification or equivalent open-source contributions.
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
