Position Purpose
The incumbent plays a critical role in supporting the mission of the Centre for Psychological Services and Research (CPSR). This position contributes to providing high quality clinical care while fostering a supportive, supervised environment for emerging clinicians. Working in collaboration with faculty members, clinical supervisors and administrators, the incumbent ensures that clinical operations run efficiently, training objectives are met, and client care aligns with ethical and professional standards.
Responsibilities
Clinical service delivery: Provides oversight of psychological services provided to individuals, couples, children, families and groups; develops and implements clinical guidelines based on best practices; ensures accurate, timely documentation and adherence to regulatory and ethical guidelines (e.g., CPA, CPBAO).
Clinical supervision and training oversight: Oversees registered supervisors providing direct supervision to practicum students and interns; manages allocation of students and interns; fosters learning environment that models ethical, culturally responsive and evidence based practice; participates in trainee evaluations and case consultations; retains and recruits part time supervisors; reviews supervision quality.
Student training and supervision: Provides clinical supervision to practicum students and interns ( 3 credits); offers feedback on assessment, case conceptualization, treatment planning and therapeutic techniques; participates in training seminars and evaluation processes.
Business and operational management: Oversees day to day business operations; develops budget forecasts; manages operational planning, budgeting and reporting; monitors service demand and performance; ensures compliance with policies and regulations; improves service delivery workflows; chairs the Clinical Training Committee.
Research: Provides oversight on research projects; advances the Centre’s research agenda; manages clinical research database; ensures tri council ethical standards and ethics board clearance.
Staff supervision: Provides leadership to administrative staff; supports performance management and professional development; fosters a collaborative environment.
Strategic planning and continuous improvement: Leads development and annual review of the Centre’s strategic plan; aligns services with community needs; contributes to program development and evaluation; stays current with clinical practice developments; participates in quality assurance and client satisfaction initiatives; prepares an annual report.
Partnerships and communication: Collaborates with faculty, supervisors and community stakeholders; leads team meetings; maintains professional communication; establishes alliances and inter agency MoUs.
Client relations management: Leads conflict resolution and management of complaints and complex cases; supports staff and supervisors with intervention protocols and remedial training plans.
Electronic health records: Oversees management and integrity of the e health records system; ensures compliance with privacy and documentation standards; serves as health information custodian.
Requirements
A doctoral degree in clinical psychology from a CPA accredited program.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a clinical psychologist.
Registered or eligible to register with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario.
Clinical supervision designation or experience supervising practicum students, interns and/or registered clinicians.
Experience providing evidence based psychological assessment and treatment to diverse populations.
Knowledge of legislation, professional guidelines and confidentiality/privacy requirements (e.g., PHIPA).
Strong skills in case conceptualization, diagnostic formulation and risk management.
Knowledge of evidence based therapeutic modalities (CBT, DBT, ACT, psychodynamic, trauma informed approaches).
Knowledge of psychological test administration, scoring and interpretation.
Experience with Electronic Health Records systems.
Understanding of clinical education frameworks and best practices.
Ability to evaluate clinical supervisors and ensure adherence to standards.
Proven ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams.
Strong conflict resolution and decision making skills.
Demonstrated respect for diversity and inclusive behavior.
Experience managing clinic operations and strategic planning.
Skills in budget development, financial planning and resource allocation.
Knowledge of community resources network.
Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and collegiality skills.
Ability to maintain emotional stability when handling human suffering.
Skill in handling complaints, sensitive cases and complex ethical issues with discretion.
Must pass a police record check for work with vulnerable populations.
High level of bilingualism (French and English).
