Sr Food Development Scientist

About the Role

Central Texas Recruiting is searching for a Senior Food Development Scientist to drive the development and optimization of nutritional beverages and powders for a manufacturing company in Middlesex County. This position leads the process from concept through commercialization while ensuring exceptional product quality, stability, and clinical effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

– Develop and refine formulations for nutritional beverages and powders to meet nutritional, sensory, and stability goals

– Collaborate with Medical Nutrition, Marketing, and Sales to align product design with business and patient needs

– Research new ingredients and explore novel nutrition opportunities

– Provide technical and scientific expertise to support product and clinical development

– Build and maintain vendor relationships to source compliant ingredients

– Present research at scientific conferences and meetings

– Ensure intellectual property protection for new products and processes

– Follow GMP, food safety, and workplace safety protocols

Qualifications & Requirements

Must-Have Requirements

– Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or related field (Master’s preferred; PhD or PharmD a plus)

– 5+ years of product development experience in nutrition, food, beverage, supplement, nutraceutical, or biotech industries

– Experience in research and development, including concept-to-commercialization product launches

– Strong understanding of ingredient interactions, formulation, and process impact on nutrient stability

– Knowledge of food safety standards and aseptic processing

Preferred Knowledge & Skills

– Ability to work cross-functionally with technical, marketing, and commercial teams

– Strong communication skills for presenting scientific findings

– Experience in intellectual property protection and regulatory compliance
