Education & Experience Required: Years of experience: 8-10 years experience required.
Degree requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Mechanical-NO 2 year degree’s-Open to Master’s with 6 years experience
PLC Programming Experience
Generator Paralleling Experience
Switchgear Design/Control Panel Design Experience
Ability to create PLC programs using one of the IEC 61131 PLC Programming languages i.e. Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram, Structured Text or any other PLC programming language
Design, test, and commission control systems. i.e. systems with different PLC controllers in the same system, experience interfacing, designing controls with different manufacturers
Develop control software utilizing various PLC platforms. Expert knowledge on at least one of the following PLC platforms. Schneider Momentum, M340, M580, AB Control, Compact Logix, Woodward MSLC, DSLC, Easy Gen, and LS5 Architecture
Interpret customer specifications and drawings, and apply them to design platform while considering industry regulations and requirements
Customize PLC software and hardware templates

Understand in detail the applicable NEC, UL 508, UL 891, UL 1558, UL MV, CSA 22-2, and ANSI requirements and their applications in switchgear controls
Understand protective relays, their functions associated with Generator, and Utility protection applications
Soft Skills
Understand the design philosophy, operation, and control of complex PLC based systems
Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
Expert ability to work independently and manage one’s time.

Typical task breakdown:
Execute and support the design, test, manufacture, and commissioning of low and medium voltage switchgear that controls multiple generators which parallel to one or more utility sources
Provide direction to CAD designers to create wiring and assembly drawings for generator paralleling switchgear controls
Interact with internal and external customers, accomplishing project milestones
Create bill of materials for generator paralleling switchgear controls in ERP system
Create PLC programs for control of generator paralleling switchgear
Execute multiple projects simultaneously
Interaction with team: Work alongside team of 5-8 engineers. Report to Engineering Manger.

Office/Air-Conditioned manufacturing facility

The main function of a controls engineer is to design, develop, install, and maintain equipment which is used to monitor and control engineering systems and processes.
Job Responsibilities:
• Assists in creating and following electrical design schedule, from specification concept to system up completion, while keeping to an overall project schedule.
• Testing, evaluating, modifying and calibrating products and instruments.
• Analyze plant processes, design and implement improvements
• Troubleshooting issues with hardware and processes.
• Analyze project requirements and perform technical calculations supporting design including electrical requirements, robotic safety standards, and motor controls.
• Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed for all work completed.Company Description
