Description:
Ensures and enhances the health and well-being of our Residents by planning, organizing, administering, and directing all aspects of the food service program
Dietary Functions
· Designs and implements menus for regular and special diets according to Resident care plans
· Creates and places food orders
· Collaborates with facility Registered Dietician
· Participates in care conferences, IDT (Interdisciplinary Team), QAPI (Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement), and staff meetings
Management Functions
· Interviews, hires, trains, and provides coaching for department staff
· Identifies appropriate staffing levels for the department and creates work schedules
· Coordinates staff functions and activities for maximum cooperation and efficiency
Administrative Functions
· Follows standard precautions and works within OSHA guidelines
· Immediately reports any suspected abuse or neglect of Residents per facility policy
· Establishes policies, procedures and protocols for departmental functions
· Manages the departmental budget effectively and documents all expenses
· Utilizes materials and supplies in an efficient, cost-effective manner
Personnel Functions
· Develops and maintains productive working relationships with other staff
· Remains free of criminal conviction that may preclude employment in the nursing home setting (including but not limited to theft, battery, assault)
· Reports any pending criminal or civil charges to the Administrator by the next business day
· Always represents the United Pioneer Home in a positive manner unless contraindicated by law
· Performs other duties as qualified for and as directed
Requirements:
· CDM (Certified Dietary Manager) preferred; CFSM (Certified Food Service Manager) accepted
· Minimum 3 years of experience in the food service field
· Minimum 1 year of experience in a supervisory role
· Minimum 1 year of nursing home experience
Other Skills and Abilities Required
· Demonstrated concern for the elderly and ability to treat Residents with respect and dignity
· Aptitude for hospitality, cooking, and customer service
· Strong time management, leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
· Knowledge of IDDSI (International Dysphagia Diet Standardization Initiative) framework
· Knowledge of MDS (Minimum Data Set) recordkeeping and data entry
· Familiarity with software such as Point Click Care (HIMS), Paylocity (HR), OnShift (scheduling), and Excel (spreadsheet) preferred
· Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively with Residents, staff, consultants, vendors, and visitors
· Ability to prioritize and manage workloads to ensure that deadlines are met
· Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of Resident information according to HIPAA regulations
Physical Requirements
· Ability to endure prolonged periods of walking, sitting, standing
· Able to bend, squat, stoop, and do repetitive shoulder/arm motions
· Able to lift up to 25# frequently and up to 50# occasionally
· Achieve negative assessment for infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis (TB)
· Be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability
· Remain free of illegal drug use and signs of impairment per facility policy
