SUMMARY:Assists in operating all audio visual systems and telecommunications systems for the District. Performs maintenance and troubleshooting duties on A/V, telecommunications and related systems. Installs, maintains, upgrades and troubleshoots special systems' hardware, software, networks, and peripheral equipment. Installs building wire cable plant for A/V, telecommunications and related special systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Installs, programs, maintains and troubleshoots A/V, telecommunications, intercom, and related special systems in schools and district office buildings

Performs all technical duties of the telephone system including system maintenance, data and computer peripheral equipment, telecommunications equipment and cable system maintenance

Repairs and replaces telephone equipment throughout the district

Maintains and repairs audio visual (A/V) equipment at schools and district office buildings

Surveys and inspects existing wire and cable equipment; assists in the design of wire cable plant and new special systems

Installs building wire and cable for special systems, data networks and voice networks

Repairs and maintains school intercom system equipment and cable infrastructure including related A/V systems

Provides system analyses for decisions on functions associated with software and hardware configurations of the telephone systems

Trains school site personnel the operation of intercom systems and A/V equipment and related special systems

Maintain records of current district telecommunications, A/V, intercom and special systems equipment.

Maintain facilities records and daily work logs

Demonstrates responsibility for the safety of others, for materials, and for equipment KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Ability to operate tools safely and effectively

Ability to install telecommunications, A/V, and related special systems hardware and software; wiring/rewiring of cables as required for installation

Knowledge of telephone systems including digital systems, analog systems, PBX's

Skilled in the use of test equipment

Skilled in reading blueprints and electrical schematics

Knowledge of state fire and electrical codes

Ability to perform manual tasks requiring moderate physical strength

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations

Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents and community members

Knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policies

Ability to handle confrontation and conflict without an emotional response QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Two years of college courses or equivalent technical training

Minimum of three years of A/V and telecommunications experience

Advanced experience in cabling for A/V, telecommunications, special systems, etc.

Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that meets minimum requirements
