About the Position
The Senior Research Scientist will lead scientific and technical support to management of research projects and oversee execution and maintenance of multiple experiments for the research study. This position will provide domain expertise and assist in coordinating the efforts of a multidisciplinary team of government and contract researchers, clinicians, academic experts and consumers to bring all the various projects in their domain together into a cohesive effort.
This is an on-site, position assigned to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. A thorough government background check will be required.

Qualifications
Advanced Degree (PhD or MD) required
5-10 years knowledge and experience with Department of Defense (DoD) Grants and Agreements administration and management, preferred
5-10 years Medical research project management experience strongly desired, preferably with Department of Defense
Experience with advanced medical technologies, preferred
Knowledge of military system, preferred
Demonstrate competence in oral and written communication
Must be organized, attentive to detail, and possess a positive, friendly and professional demeanor
Ability to be flexible with changing priorities and available to interact with employees, clients and sponsors of all levels
Ability to exercise independent judgment in a fast-paced, high-pressured environment with strict deadlines and to manage multiple projects
Ability to develop strong trusting relationships to gain support and achieve results
Computer skills including at least intermediate level experience with Excel and other Microsoft Office Software Responsibilities
Adheres to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), International Air Transportation Association (IATA), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and infection control procedures, as applicable
Reviews research documentation and provides detailed technical written notes and reports as applicable
Performs recurring analyses on research portfolios to identify critical gaps, exceptional results and/or lack of progress
Interacts with other services and government agencies, organizes and hosts research planning and the coordination of meetings, and informs the Principal Investigator of developments
Assist in the preparation and analysis of laboratory experiments
Observe recording, measurements, and report results in notebook and technical reports
Collection of data, data analysis and data entry
Preparation of interim and final progress reports
Dissemination of research results
Maintains open communication with the Principal Investigator, advises of processes, reports progress, and serves as a point of contact, as applicable
Provides guidance to scientists preparing research proposals, to include guidance on research protocol development, as needed
Performs scientific reviews on research proposals submitted for consideration, as requested
Directs multifunctional teams and provides clinical and scientific domain expertise as needed
Maintains and updates files of all applicable regulatory documentation for IACUC or IRB (including protocols, approvals, amendments, modifications, etc.) as well as any communications with the sponsor or any other Federal or regulatory office (including prior approvals, change in scope, etc.)
