The purpose of this position is to provide engineering, consultation, and assistance in the operation, design and construction of Fort Defiance Indian Hospital Board, Inc. (FDIHB) healthcare facilities, staff housing units, site improvements and other related physical plant facilities and equipment. This position provides expertise, planning and daily coordination for the management of all FDIHB facilities (Tséhootsooi Medical Center, Nahata'Dziil Health Center, Nihi Dine'é Bá).

Duties:
Project Leadership: Serve in a substantial leading role in complex projects and provide engineering oversight of assigned facility repair and/or construction projects, potentially serving as the project lead for contractors. Planning & Scheduling: Establish goals, objectives, priorities, schedules, and budgets for approved CIPs. Track and control construction schedules and associated costs to ensure project completion within the allocated time and budget. Contract Management: Participate in the consultant and construction service vendor selection, contract negotiation, and administration. Establish and maintain electronic databases and tracking systems for CIPs. Coordination: Coordinate pre-construction and construction activities with internal departments (Risk, Safety, Infection Control, Quality) and external agencies, utility companies, and organizations to facilitate timely project completion. Reporting & Presentation: Prepare and present written and oral reports of a technical and administrative nature to the Leadership Council, Director of Facilities, Chief Administrative Officer, and the Board of Directors, detailing budget status and project progression. System Expertise: Apply technical knowledge to assignments involving major building systems, including Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, fire protection, architectural systems, electrical distribution, and medical gases. Technical Analysis: Perform tasks involving energy and life-cycle costs analysis of mechanical systems and equipment. Data Integrity & Drafting: Perform calculations applying standard formulas, prepare graphs, curves, and tables for other engineers. Record factual data in tests and observation studies. Perform drafting and minor detail designs and search technical reports for information. Building Code Compliance: Provide coordination and direction to assure compliance with applicable Federal, State, and Tribal building codes, contract specifications, and scope of work from pre- to post-construction. Database Management: Confirm existing conditions and examine new conditions to ensure facilities information database integrity for various tracking systems (e.g., MPulse). Facilities Inspection: Conduct regular quarterly inspections of facilities to proactively identify and resolve issues and ensure all infrastructure and equipment are in good working condition. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of direct work experience as an engineer. EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
