Selectek has an exciting opportunity for an experienced bulk material handling conveyor engineer. This position is a leadership engineering role that will work closely with the VP of Engineering and Director of Projects to coordinate the execution of all engineering deliverables on a given project ensuring that the technical package(s) for conveyor projects are both on time and accurate. The individual will coordinate project activities with the support Engineers. The engineer will be directly responsible for coordinating activities utilizing 3rd party engineering disciplines with the team.
Responsibilities:
Project Initiation:
Work with VP of Engineering to establish overall execution strategy
establish project teams (internal and external resources)
define overall priorities and completion dates for all projects Project Execution:
Lead Conveyor Product design
Generate conveyor & tower and chute layouts using Solidworks and AutoCad
Establish system workpoints given required transitions
Create general arrangement drawings
Work w/ structural engineer to develop foundation reactions and interface drawings
Use Belt Analyst to define power requirements and required components
Integrate 3rd party equipment as required per project
Coordination of project engineering deliverables
Coordinate all 3rd party engineering disciplines (if applicable) for conveyor projects as needed
Work with Product Engineers to develop scope of work, schedule and budget
Assist Project Managers to negotiate sub contract
Monitor sub contact progress and completion dates
Electrical
Coordination between mechanical and electrical teams to ensure both disciplines meet deliverable completion dates
Coordination between project managers, product engineers, and electrical teams to ensure electrical team has all relevant design and vendor information
Structural
Coordination between mechanical and structural teams to ensure both disciplines meet deliverable completion dates
Detailing
Coordination between mechanical, structural & detailing teams to ensure both disciplines meet deliverable completion dates
Vendors
Communicate with project managers to establish dates that vendor information is required to complete all design tasks
approval drawings, load capacity. Etc
Construction
Communicate with field team primarily on erection sequences and lifts
Shipping
Communicate with Vendor and Project managers how items are to be secured.
Reporting weekly project progress to VP of Engineering
Supervise daily design Engineering activities
Work with design engineers and assign specific project priorities to individuals
Daily communication with design engineers to track progress
Maintaining project budget as it relates to engineering hours and design
Coordination of project deign reviews & design/drawing checking
Approval of project design Project Completion:
Work with VP of Engineering to develop lessons learned
Client specifications
Overall design & Constructability
Steel weights
Ease of assembly
Vendor performance
Schedule / resource availability / budgeted hours
Work w/ management team to negotiate backcharges
Project Support:
Support procurement with any technical assistance
Support construction and commissioning team with any technical assistance
Required:
5 plus years professional experience in bulk material handling Conveyor engineering and design
5 plus years professional experience using Solidworks, AutoCAD, and Belt Analyst
Knowledgeable in heavy industrial equipment including mechanical, hydraulic and electrical components, steel fabrication and AISC painting requirements
Leadership abilities
Strong communication and organizational skills Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering highly preferred.
Pay Rate: $55.00 - $63.00
