Position Overview
As a Professional Land Surveyor, you will lead and oversee survey operations supporting civil engineering and land development projects. This role combines field and office responsibilities, including project management, data review, client coordination, and mentoring of survey staff. You will ensure that all survey work meets applicable standards, supports design accuracy, and upholds company quality expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and perform boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and construction surveys.
Supervise field crews and review collected data for accuracy and completeness.
Prepare plats, legal descriptions, and other survey deliverables.
Coordinate closely with engineers, project managers, and clients to meet project requirements.
Utilize GPS, robotic total stations, and AutoCAD Civil 3D for drafting and analysis.
Perform and review calculations for boundary resolution, control networks, and construction layouts.
Maintain compliance with state and local regulations, safety standards, and company procedures.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior surveyors and field staff. Qualifications
Active Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license or ability to obtain within [state].
5+ years of experience in land surveying with a civil engineering or land development focus.
Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, GPS, and total station systems.
Strong understanding of boundary, ALTA, and construction staking procedures.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Valid driver's license and willingness to perform occasional fieldwork. Preferred Qualifications
Experience with heavy civil, infrastructure, or large-scale development projects.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and field teams simultaneously.
Familiarity with GIS and drone (UAV) mapping workflows.
