Description
Position: Damage Prevention Technician Reports To: Foreman/Superintendent
Summary: Responsible for interacting with contractors and personnel onsite to ensure proper excavation practices are being followed and in adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations
Essential Qualifications, Duties, and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned)
Must have a deep understanding of all aspects of excavation, including but not limited to:
Preparation for excavation
Permits and notifications
One Call system
Excavation responsibilities and dangers
Tools and equipment
Sloping requirements
Soil types
Protecting pipe during excavation
Measuring pipe clearance
Tolerance zones
Pipeline locating and marking
OSHA regulations for excavation
Inspect pipe for damages
Physical Demands:
The employee must regularly lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Damage Prevention Technicians must be willing to comply with PCM Health, Safety, and Environmental rules and regulations. They must also comply with all governmental regulations.
