Abilene Public Schools (USD #435), Abilene, KS, is currently seeking a PreK Classroom Aide.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 18 years of age

High School Diploma or GED

Excellent organizational and academic skills

Student centered; Demonstrated success in working with students

Excellent collaborative/teaming skills

Energetic, creative, innovative, flexible

Excellent interpersonal skills

Purpose: The Teacher Aide assists the Instructor in creating a positive

learning environment to facilitate the personal, social, and

intellectual development of students. To accomplish these tasks,

the Teacher Aide works closely with the staff and administration to support students.

Essential Functions:

Ability to assist in facilitating the personal, social, and intellectual development of students.

Ability to assist in establishing a positive learning environment, and respond to the individual educational needs of students.

Ability to ensure all activities conform to District guidelines.

Ability to communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with members of the school district and community .

Ability to be fexible as schedules and daily activities may change. 6. Ability to operate all classroom equipment appropriately as required.

Ability to work to implement the vision and mission of the District. Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:

Requires stooping, bending, kneeling, turning, and reaching.

Requires prolonged sitting or standing.

Must occasionally work in noisy and crowded environments, with numerous interruptions. General Responsibilities:

Ability to prepare for classroom activities under the supervision of a licensed teacher.

Ability to work with small groups of students to practice skills introduced by the teacher.

Ability to assist individual children in need of special attention.

Ability to perform clerical duties as required.

Ability to set up audiovisual equipment.

Ability to assist teacher with non-instructional classroom duties, such as serving snack, lunch supervision, recess supervision, and assisting students with toileting and clothing routines.

Ability to observe and follow all school district policies at all times.

Ability to respond to information requests in a cooperative, courteous, and timely manner.

Ability to keep student and personnel information and records confidential.

Ability to implement and follow all District health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.

Ability to perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as directed by the

Principal or Teacher.
