Job Summary
This position will be responsible for the safe operation of the dredge to remove sand, gravel or other materials in order to excavate and maintain the dredge system. Complete preventive maintenance on dredge systems with the assistance of the maintenance team. Document and communicate conditions of dredge equipment. This position works on a 12-hour rotating shift schedule.
Key Accountabilities
Responsible for the safe operation of the dredge system
Takes an active role in ensuring dredge safety systems are operating properly, including inspecting dredge area and equipment prior to beginning of shift and documenting as required
Understands core data to drive mining decisions to meet production goals
Maintains the operation of all plant facilities in accordance with operating guidelines and instructions, including shutting down operating equipment and track downtime events per company procedures
Effectively communicates with Supervision, Maintenance, and other team members.
Assist with maintenance tasks
Adheres to all Momentum safety and environmental requirements and participates in program development and reviews
Perform duties in compliance with all associated regulations (MSHA, OSHA, etc.) which include documentation and reporting for each regulation
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with co-workers, subordinates (if any), supervisors, managers, company officers, as well as, clients, vendors, and suppliers
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times, including the ability to recognize situations in which confidentiality is required
Performs special projects and job-related duties as assigned Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent
If Dredge Operator II - 3 years experience and working knowledge in silica sand mine, MSHA Part 49, OSHA regulation and compliance
Possess and maintain a valid driver's license Other Qualifications
Preferred:
Experience in drilling, rigging or mining is preferred Other Requirements:
Must be able to operate dredge alone without direct supervision and maintain high standards
Must have basic knowledge and skill using computers; including Excel, Word, Internet Explorer and Outlook
Must pass pre-employment drug test, and will be subject to random, for-cause, and post-accident drug testing, in accordance with Company policies and procedures
Must pass criminal history background check
Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable under the Company's vehicle insurance policy
Must pass fit for duty physical
Ability to communicate clearly and accurately, orally and in written format
Ability to read and understand technical materials
Ability to prepare reports, to convey information clearly and concisely
Must possess strong communication skills with all levels of staff and management
Ability to analyze, define problems, collect information, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Must be able to work independently, with minimum supervision
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure Physical Demands
Must be able to sit, walk and stand/walk more than 8 hours per 12-hour shift
Will occasionally lift and carry up to 75 lbs. and frequently lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
Lifting consists of various parts, materials and equipment from ground to shelves and shoulder height to shelves
Carrying consists of various parts, tools and equipment for a distance of 3 ft. to 10 yards
Occasionally, there will be crawling, climbing, and overhead reach, while frequently bending, pushing and pulling and driving for boat operations
Will need to squat, twist, and climb ladders and stairs
Will occasionally need heavy hand grasp and foot function for operation of foot controls and frequently will need fine hand functions
Environmentally will be exposed to elements, high heat and humidity, loud noises and on a boat inside and outside of operation cabin. Must have adequate hearing and speech to communicate effectively with co-workers and others by telephone, two-way radio, and in-person
Work may require the use of computers with exposure to video display terminals Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily outdoors, in high noise, high and low temperature areas with some exposure to environmental stress
Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions and uneven terrain
Frequently be exposed to work near moving mechanical part
Proper personal protective equipment must be worn for all work duties
Work is performed 5 days/a wk. 2 days off with rotating day and night shift and on-call on weekends as needed.
