SUMMARY
Hourly Rate $25.15
This is a Part-Time Academic Coach position for available assignments during the academic year. Applications are considered throughout the academic year and reviewed based on departmental needs. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include working days, evenings and/or weekends.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES
The life of a college student is often a busy one where multiple courses, assignments, part-time jobs, and other commitments that compete for time. The Learning Lab and Learning Commons Academic Coaching Program offers a structured, collaborative approach to support academic progress.
Academic Coaches provide individualized guidance and ongoing feedback as they meet one-on-one with students . Academic Coaches support students in honing time management skills, prioritize commitments and meet deadlines. Academic Coaches also help students study smarter by learning a wide assortment of active reading, test-taking, and other student success strategies. Remote work opportunities will be evaluated according to student demand and case-by-case basis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Help students establish and maintain positive daily routines and habits
Help students establish and maintain priorities
Help orient students to campus resources (such as Counseling, Registrar, Career Center, Advising and other resources)
Help students develop strategies for breaking tasks into manageable steps
Help students assess academic progress through regular check-ins
Help students make mindful decisions and solving problems
Teach students how to take and use class notes
Help students actively read and learn from textbooks
Help students improve test taking skills and alleviate test anxiety
Provide students with skills and strategies needed to become self-regulated learners
Help students identify and overcome obstacles impeding academic success
Help students focus on individual goals and identify steps to reaching those goals
Work with students to develop strong time-management and organization
Motivate students to take ownership of their own academic success
Monitor student progress WORK ENVIRONMENT
The incumbent typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office. Incumbent may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the work day.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to twenty (20) pounds.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Proven interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to effectively, professionally, and tactfully interact with others
Ability to write and communicate clearly and effectively via email or telephone
Ability to work collaboratively as a member of the Learning Lab and Learning Commons teams
Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, with an ability to plan and manage multiple projects concurrently
Ability to maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures
Computer literacy and ability to quickly learn new software applications
Ability to conduct workshops, seminars, and trainings
Commitment to maintain confidentiality PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, English, Writing, Reading or related area
Minimum of one (1) year of related work experience
Bilingual English/Spanish
