Position Overview

The Safety Superintendent provides leadership and oversight for all safety programs across electrical construction projects as assigned. This position ensures compliance with company, federal, state, and local safety regulations, drives a proactive safety culture, and mentors field safety staff. The Safety Superintendent serves as the senior safety authority on job sites, collaborating with project management and field operations to eliminate hazards and ensure that safety is integrated into every aspect of work.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Oversight

Supervise and mentor Safety Coordinators and Safety Specialists assigned to project sites.

Serve as the primary safety liaison between project management, field personnel, and corporate safety leadership.

Conduct regular site audits and inspections to ensure compliance with company safety policies and OSHA regulations. Program Management

Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive site-specific safety plans (SSSPs) for electrical construction projects.

Monitor leading and lagging safety indicators, ensuring prompt corrective actions and continuous improvement.

Coordinate safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training initiatives across multiple project sites.

Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses, ensuring lessons learned are shared and implemented. Regulatory Compliance

Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, NEC, and other relevant electrical safety standards.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving safety regulations and best practices in electrical construction.

Interface with regulatory agencies and clients regarding inspections, audits, and reporting. Training & Development

Coach and develop safety staff to enhance technical knowledge, leadership skills, and field engagement.

Conduct and coordinate specialized safety training on electrical hazards, lockout/tagout, confined space, and fall protection.

Promote a culture of safety ownership and continuous learning throughout the workforce. Risk Management

Identify potential hazards early in project planning and execution phases, working collaboratively to implement controls.

Evaluate subcontractor safety programs and ensure alignment with company safety standards.

Track and analyze safety data to identify trends and implement proactive solutions. Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of safety experience in electrical or industrial construction, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or senior leadership capacity.

OSHA 500 or 510; CHST, CSP, or equivalent certification preferred; First Aid/CPR, NFPA 70E training. Skills & Competencies

In-depth understanding of electrical construction hazards and controls.

Strong leadership and team management abilities.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Analytical and problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach.

Ability to influence and drive safety culture across diverse teams.
